Steam or Client?

Hey all, 

 

First of all, hello to this wonderful community, you seem like a cool bunch.

Now, although I've been flying for a while I never got to the multiplayer aspect of it until now.

I got BOS in the alpha, and transferred to Steam, just so I would have it organised with the rest of games and sims, and until now this didn't worry me because I flew alone.

But as I scrolled among the forums, I noticed some tendency towards the client, instead of Steam.

Now, I ask because I want to purchase the BOM and BOK expansions as well, and I don't want to mess up.

Will I be able to access all servers, both from Steam and the client either way, or are they exclusive servers for each platform?

If anyone would be so kind to help me in this matter I would appreciate it a lot.

 

Besides, if anyone would like to voice chat and maybe help me get introduced into the multiplayer world, squad up, or just chat around about planes, or whatever comes It'd be great, for I don't know any active simmers.

You'll have access to multiplayer no matter if you use steam or client, it's all the same.

 

You can fly with me if you want. Me and my bud fly together alot. If you wanna fly with us just add me on steam, we don't fly everyday but I'll let you know when we do.

I can answer this because I just went thru the same thing myself. I initially bought the Steam version of BoS. In order to support this great franchise I just pre-ordered BoK and bought BoM. The BoM content is available in my game via a Steam client without any action whatsoever on my part. I bought everything else direct from il2sturmovik.com because it ensures they receieve 100% of my money for further development. I recommend everyone do it this way if they are financially able (instead of Steam sales; again, if you're able to) to support this great team!

As for the Steam or Client thing, it doesnt matter if you buy everything else on the site and launch BoS through Steam, youll still get all the content youve purchased and activated on you IL2 profile, purchasing through steam will mostly just give you Those DLC on your steam profile which is unimportant to play or enjoy the game.

You have BoS on Steam activated, right? Because you wanted Steam but now you think to go back to Client. No problem. You are still able to choose between Steam or Client, if you want?

If you want Client download it every time here

 

Guys, you can just download the game installer here, setup and play this game without Steam.

If you use Steam or Client it doesn't matter we play everytime together. You can buy BoM here or on Steam it doesn't matter, same goes for the BoK pre-order or the Collector Planes. BoS alone is enough to have it on Steam just to be able to use the Steam Client or not. IL-2 gives you the freedom to decide!

Initially purchased BoS on steam during a sale. After hearing what Steam takes from the developer, though... I bought BoM directly from the site and started using the stand-alone version of the game.

HooliganS3, The tag are only given to people who buy during the PRE-ORDER time on this site.
