IL 2 Shturmovik: Red Avenger (book)

I have read the book and I really like it.

It is well written and very comprehensible even for non-native English readers.

It has very nice pictures and a lot of images of paint schemes which are a nice feature for modellers and skinners.

At the end the writer even explains how to model special versions of the IL-2s and although I am not a modeller it is nice to read his tips.

Thanks for posting the links to the other books.

I have Red Avenger. Very well-researched and thorough guide to the Il-2 series, even down to the small differences dependent on which factory built them.

Worth getting IMHO. Cheers.

Thanks for your responses; I have ordered both the IL 2 and Lavochkin books from the Book Depository, so I'll post more on them.

As a side question, I also have Yakovlev Fighters of World War 2 by Gordon & Komissarov:

I've seen Yefim Gordon being heavily criticized in this forum: what, specifically, is wrong with his information and can those who criticize him as an author point to more 'reliable' authors?

I also have the book Yakovlev Fighters of World War 2 by Gordon & Komissarov, but I have not read it yet.

It is on the big pile of books still to be read. I am very good at buying more books than I can read  ;)

However, I did read the book Illyushin Il-2 and Il-10 Shturmovik  by Gordon & Komissarov (http://www.crowood.com/details.asp?isbn=9781861266255) and I liked it (Mr Moore also refers quite a few times to this book in his book).

Also other books by Gordon like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Soviet-Combat-Aircraft-Second-World/dp/1857800834 and https://www.amazon.com/Soviet-Combat-Aircraft-Second-World/dp/1857800842 I really enjoyed.

In this post http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/14453-il-2-book/ they also seem to be quite positive.

+1

I now have the book and, while I haven't read it completely, impressions are all positive. I really like this book.

Yes, I have and read the book. Really nice one and one of the best I found over the IL2.
