Since the Warthog grip is a replica of a real grip, I assume the ergonomics should be spot on. I can't imagine how much testing this grip would have went through being in a real aircraft.

Real grip ergonomics cost a lot of money, but are designed for the specific task's, this can not translate well for flight games controls.

For example, the release weapons button require move hand up - unless one have really big hands - to be pressed.

This don't cause issue in real planes because they are rarely used, and even in real combat mission, is use few times per flight.

But this became annoying in flight simulation, you use that control much more frequently, and the movement of sliding you hand up can disturb your flight control,

your joystick is more sensible than real flight controls.

Or, real HAT's corners are designed for control radar, weapon selection on computer screens, not radiator, propeller pitch, landing gear, flaps... like people use to do.

The conical format of trim HAT is convenient for trim - as intended - but is not the best format for control camera POV like several people still using.

For this camera control a concave HAT top like in Russian grips - e.g. in Ka-50 grip  (for control Shkval target cursor) will result more practical.

But one of the first domestic joystick with POV HAT, Tm FCS was based on B-8 grip, so the conical  "China HAT" format became standard for this.  :)

And this became more complicated using KG-12A grip design, like Gladiator did, where's a single press button need be "travesty" in POV HAT control. :)

I'm sure you can find some reports of broken buttons on a product that's been around for 6 years now and it's a real mass product with well more than 50000 units produced. The Gladiator has been around for a few months and the total numbers of those is probably 1% of that. And i know at least two of those arrived broken at the customer, one of them was mine. So i think it's a bit early for a fair comparison about that.

I am not trying comparing Warthog and Gladiator quality, one "hig end" other "entry level".

Is more fair compare Gladiator quality with Tm T.16000M, Cobra M5. People already broken Gladiator trigger.

I am just pointing that Warthog internals don't match their price/look. :)

I never see a CH joystick broken, and in case of a worm out gimbal pole, in a well used Combatstick from a colleague, this was easy for me to fix.

As well a button reluctant to click, the switch are fine, but the plastic part that press worm slight, a thin acetate sheet above fix this. The switch is OMRON (Japanese made).

BTW  - I am not suggesting to anyone buy CH, they use ... "1999's" electronics.

Yes, while the Warthog stick might not look very ergnomical, it actually is very ergonomical for me. I think i have average sized hands and can reach each button and hat switch really well. Also switching between the three hat switches on top of the stick feels so natural that it's basically impossible to miss one of them or use a wrong switch or push it in the wrong direction by mistake. The weapon release button is really a bit harder to reach (for a reason on the real stick in the real plane), but i usually just slightly move my hand up a bit when fighting and then it's not an issue. For normal flying, i move the hand down again and place it on the hand rest. This is when i'm flying planes which have a cannon. Without cannons, i usually put bomb release on that button and then it's not really a problem anyway.

That's true of course.

Wow, can you please post a link? I would like to take a look at what broke exactly.

Thanks for the input guys. :salute:

For what I see round is 4th case, I suppose that VKB will send replacement parts.

But what owners of OEM versions will do, when this happen? OEM brands don't bother with replacement parts, even Saitek don't bother.  :P

Although tested under strong force, difference people put different pressure in hands. Saitek Cyborg has similar trigger, and broken cases happen with this model too.

Since VKB already made this trigger in metal ( for the planed KG-12B "all metal"), and send a gif for pre-order, will be good if make this available as optional, under additional cost, for Gladiator.

It's said that no. Mambas use grip borrowed from Defender Cobra M5 production, and VKB don't what use this more, will produce their own "jet/kosmosimov" multi HAT/buttons grip, what will take some more time. And the in development Gunfighter can be considered as Mamba improved version, not justify made Mamba again.

What was mentioned is they will provide adapter for use Cobra M5 grip in Gladiator, for user that have this Defender joystick, common in Russia.

Seems when new firmware (under test) with support for this adapter is ready.

VKB USB controller use different connection - digital, 3 wires - than the serial, 5 wires used in this grip (and in Warthog, Cougar F22PRO...) why is need new firmware, to match this protocols.
