What say all of you?

Oh the F4U-1 you see in the Collector Set 1 is the F4U-1c (cannon variant). The F6F is the F6F-5 with mixed battery (2 x 20mm and 4 x 12.7mm). It will have the AN/APS-6 RADAR as an upgrade. The other B-25's are all unique. Some of you will recognize them. The plane under the P-38 is the SB2C-4 'Helldiver'. We will already have the SBD's from BoMWy. Collector Set Two will be called "Heavy Set" as a pun on being big. It will have the B-24J, B-17G and the B-29 if they ever get four engines to work in game.

Pretty much impossible to get so many planes and almost equally impossible to get heavy bombers.

My guess would be:

Hellcat

Corsair

Helldiver

Avenger

Seafire (as collector plane)

You mean the B25/PBJ? It doesn't sound that impossible considering we already have He111's, for example.

EDIT: Didn't realize the OP mentioned actual heavy bombers, nevermind.

B-25's are medium bombers. We have several twins currently.

I think he means this

IMO the Prem should be the seafire or a FAA F4U variant. The RN did play a decent part in the battle and it would be nice to for one play as them in the pacific

Agreed. Being able to fly a Seafire against Zeroes would be awesome!

It would have to be this version though:  Maybe remove the F6F-3 and replace with the F6F-5. Then replace the F6F-5 in the collector set with this Seafire? I think this would be an easy addition since we will have the Spitfire Mk.Vb for about 2 years before this expansion ever comes out. All they need to do is model the tail hook. I believe the Mk.I Seafire had folding wing tips too right?

Not really the MK L III (the one in your picture) was in service then which would be the much better. The M3 is more closely related to the IX and is powered by a more powerful Merlin 55 M series and so will be more able to contend with the opposition and it's allies.

performance here http://www.spitfireperformance.com/lr765.html  however I do believe this to be the normal Merlin 55 and not the 55M which was better at low level

Updated post #1

  • Made Seafire Mk.III part of the main line up. It was integral in fighting of Kamakazi attacks.
  • Removed F6F-3 in favor of F6F-5 / F6F-5(N)

Good list, however I would change the P-47 razorback to a late model P-47D and I would make the Top Gun a P-47N.

A razorback would be great but not in Okinawa, hopefully they'll make a Western European / Italian theater so we can see the razorback.

Wasn't the N model minus one gun on each wing or was that the M?

That was the M. The P-47m was the fastest P-47 and the lightest but very few were made and they all served in Europe. The P-47n was the best Tbolt of the war imo, it did everything better than the D and had a range of around 2000 miles, it also had clipped wings. I think it served mostly in the Pacific flying escort for B-29s over Japan, I'm not quite sure of it's service in Europe but I'm sure it was there.

P-47 N's were shipped to Europe first (56th FG) but the war in Europe ended before any saw combat. They saw active duty in the Pacific only.

There is something you don't understand spektre...

There will be 4 japanese/us planes each +1 collector for each side (total 10), not seven and 5 collector just for american side, don't dream...

Therefore allied planeset should be something like that :

- Corsair

- Hellcat

- Helldiver

- Avenger

Collector : Mustang

Don't forget that the US planes has to operate from carriers. That's why the Mustang is a collector plane.

Did the DEV's say only four planes + one collector? Anyway this is my thread and my dream list. It's only here to see what people think of it, not for you to come in and tell me I don't understand. I researched what aircraft flew in that theater. There were many more than what I have listed. The P-51D-20 operated out of Le Shima, Okinawa. And the P-38J/L's were there too. B-25J's were also out of Le Shima as well. The 333rd FS, 318th FG had P-47N's and yes they were there too.

So your point is............?
