Luft1942 Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Just wondering because I hope all the new tech, DX11, possibly better textures, etc will make it into BoS/BoM and I also hope I can fly my Bf 109 F-4 and G-2 in Kuban
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 BOK will certainly be integrated in to our accounts the same way that BOM did with BOS.

SCG_Space_Ghost Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 I'd put money on it that it'll work that way. Although BOS, BOM and BOK have been marketed as separate games they are really just content packages for the IL-2 game engine - any engine-level updates will be applied at the IL-2 level and not the Battle of XYZ level.
Jade_Monkey Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Okay, cool! Wish Jason would respond to this thread though lol for that extra reassurance xD Yes it's been said before (somewhere).

I'll take your word for it man. Thank you! I also like your profile pic lol
ShamrockOneFive Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 The second gen IL-2 is a platform with a core set of technologies (the engine, water, physics, flight and damage models, etc.) and content gets plugged into the platform. BoS, BoM and now BoK. Count on it being merged.
Rjel Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 I'm sure some purists will chaff at this but I love the "what ifs" I can dream up with airplanes that never met in combat. Or if they did it was so infrequent as to be almost unheard of. Going back to CYAC in the early '90s, I loved just playing around with those types of scenarios.

Had a 1941 scenario where the Japanese attacked Vladivostok. It was pretty wild with I-16s vs Zeros and Yaks chasing after Oscars and Sallys. It can be lots of fun if you put the historical purist away for a bit and have some fun. Lots of historical what-ifs to explore as you expand the product. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that the 1CGS guys have a laser focus per theater but cram them all together and it can lead to some interesting exploration.
ZnarF Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 The original question is relevant: with the Dx11 engine, I suppose there will be during the early access of december two distinct installation:for Dx9 BOS/BOM and Dx11 BOK?

I highly doubt that. DX11 will be available for everyone when its ready (probably not until next year). There would be absolutely no sense to split this game into two engines. One of my favorite matchups in IL2 was Las and Yaks vs Zekes and Kis.
Gambit21 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 I don't think I shot down anything in a Zeke that wasn't a historical adversary my entire time flying IL2. Just never found myself in that position, and I wouldn't have thought to make those missions.
kendo Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Haha DX11 in December. Nice one! 2017 more likely. Last I heard (from Jason I believe) it was anticipated to be ready in "a few months", so possibly December.

No, that is not how the game engine handles it. Once the flip is made to DX11 it will be all inclusive.
ShamrockOneFive Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I highly doubt that. DX11 will be available for everyone when its ready (probably not until next year). There would be absolutely no sense to split this game into two engines. That would be my guess as well. Their engine programmer is busy working on it right now - I think they will probably do a lot of work internally before we get to see it. Probably will start with a straight transition from DX9 to 11 which will involve doing some reprogramming. Then they may see what extra they can get out of DX11 after that. Can I download this Vladivostok scenario somewhere? Sounds awesome! It was a MP scenario. I can ZIP it up if its useful... we flew it on Battlefields1 sometimes. Its still on there (I think) if you play IL-2 1946 multiplayer at all.
Jade_Monkey Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 Last I heard (from Jason I believe) it was anticipated to be ready in "a few months", so possibly December. Yes, that's what i thought too. However, if you got a chance to listen to the Q&A, Jason made it sound like they are in the initial phase and they havent even started the upgrade. Something like "still learning about DX11".

I guess that Q1 2017 seems reasonable.
AirWolves=V1kt0r Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Hi guys, is it possible to integrate a non-steam version bought here with a steam-bought one, or vise-versa?
Field-Ops Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Hi guys, is it possible to integrate a non-steam version bought here with a steam-bought one, or vise-versa? It absolutely is possible. When I first bought the game it was on Steam and didnt learn about the digital store website. Now I get all my content directly from this website, launch my game on steam, and have all my content available to me. The content isnt tied to "is your DLC installed or not?" but directly tied to your account. All content is always going to be in the game, your account and keys activated on your account determine what you can access.
