Nic727 Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 (edited) Hi, Because my comment was lost somewhere in the official discussion, I would like to ask three things. 1. IL-2 mod.43 UBT : Ok what is this plane? I have a magazine showing all existing Il-2, but this one is not showing. What do you mean by mod. 43? Is it 1943? If it is, the only model made in 1943 was the IL-2AM-38F (aka IL-2 Type 3 or IL-2M3) with a ChKAS and UBT (rear gunner) machine gun. 2. What will happen after the final unknown add-on? Will you just quit, pass the game to another team like Daidalos Team or Team Fusion or this game will die? 3. People will be annoyed with my DVD request, but since that for this time, you are showing "Digital Copy" on the cover, does it mean that I can hope for a DVD version featuring BOS, BOM and BOK? I also had the great idea to make a "Spirit of 46" DVD version featuring IL-2 BOS, BOM and BOK on one DVD, another DVD with Cliffs of Dover (latest patch from TF) and one last DVD with IL2 1946 (latest patch from DT). I would like it to feature a great IL-2 scale model in the box. I don't care to pay $200 for this bundle. It's just that I like to have a lot of DVD on my wall. Look cool! This "Spirit of 46" DVD could be a great opportunity for newcomer to discover the series with all the games. My idea about the design of the box is : - Cover : Show a IL*2 Sturmovik Spirit of 46 (same font as image above). The image is an Il2 and other aircraft fighting in the sky (a bit like the current BOS DVD, but in another way). - Side : Like other games, just the name of the game. - Back : Maybe 3 parts. Each one showing an image and a description of the game (we get 3 games). After that, don't worry about a new DVD version for other add-on. Just one big DVD bundle is great. Thank you PS: For DVD, another solution could be to allow us to download template for cover, side and back of a box so we can print it on our own DVD box... Same for printing the DVD label itself. Would like to see something in this style for DVD label. Edited September 9, 2016 by Nic727
Neil Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Yes physical object are always cool! It is a very collectible item that we can keep it and show it to our kids and our future generations without having to play it!
kendo Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 (edited) ... 2. What will happen after the final unknown add-on? Will you just quit, pass the game to another team like Daidalos Team or Team Fusion or this game will die? ... Why do you think they would do that? A little bit too much "glass half empty" thinking there. Expect they don't know exactly what they will do after everything in the outline is achieved, but considering that will take us up to ~2020 I think there is plenty of time for them to decide. Nic727 Posted September 8, 2016 Author Posted September 8, 2016 Why do you think they would do that? A little bit too much "glass half empty" thinking there. That was just question. It's just that they are saying : Our long-term vision includes the following battles, but not necessarily in this order and final selection is not concrete. Don't know what it means.
707shap_Srbin Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 IL-2 mod.43 UBT Il-2 AM-38F two-seater, with 12.7mm UBT, with wooden tail and wings, and no arrow-edge of wings. Clear enough, I hope?

DD_Arthur Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Nic, what interests you the most; playing these games or having the DVD box to add to your collection?
PA-Sniv Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 (edited) Well, to me, digital copy means BoK won't be edited on physical copy. But who knows? At first, BoS wasn't supposed to go physical but it did because of community asked for it (was it sucessful? don't know). Your thread: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/23570-il2-bos-pricing-error/ Cheers, Edited September 9, 2016 by PA-Sniv
Nic727 Posted September 9, 2016 Author Posted September 9, 2016 Nic, what interests you the most; playing these games or having the DVD box to add to your collection? Playing the game, but having the box is cool.
1CGS LukeFF Posted September 9, 2016 1CGS Posted September 9, 2016 Boxes just clutter up my shelf space. I'm perfectly fine with the game being digital download only.
Nic727 Posted September 11, 2016 Author Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) What do you think? Version 1 Version 2 (Would like the front of a IL2, but it wasn't in the trailer (CGI)) Version 3 : I was thinking about the part in Trailer 2 where we saw the two teams going to fight in the sky, but it's blurry Which version do you like the most? For DVD Label : I will create the back when I will have time. Edited September 11, 2016 by Nic727
[CPT]milopugdog Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 The reasons for not producing a DVD have already been given; they're too expensive to make when most just buy digital. I originally wanted a box for BoS as well; so I went around to Gamestop, Walmart, and some other stores to look for one only to create some very confused employees. So where did that put me? Order it from Amazon? Pay shipping, and possible a little more for the box? Why do that when I could 1. Get it cheaper via the website or Steam and 2. Not have to wait for it to get to me? To generalize it; Companies want to make sure they sell enough boxes to justify having them, stores will only buy what people will, and most people don't go to stores to buy PC games anymore. Box art is still very much real though, you've got to put some sort of picture on the website and Steam, yeah?
Nic727 Posted September 11, 2016 Author Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) Yeah... Maybe 1C and 777 studios could make an official poll to know if people are interested in collector edition and what they would like to see in it? For me, I would like to see that. - 1 DVD IL2 BOS, BOM and BOK - 1 DVD IL2 Cliffs of Dover (latest patch from TF) - 1 DVD IL2 1946 (latest patch from DT) - 1 Il-2 sturmovik AM-38F scale model - 1 Manual (available in multiple language) - ? (Why not add the log book of Spitfire pilot available in COD collector?) They made a great collector edition for Cliffs of dover. Edited September 11, 2016 by Nic727
=362nd_FS=Hiromachi Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Not sure about standard edition boxes, but I always enjoyed buying special collector editions with a box full of gadgets. Of course it was priced accordingly, sometimes extremely expensive but at the end it was sold rapidly.

I will certainly buy the game from the website digitally, but if in the futur they are releasing a collector physical edition containing all IL2 (up-to-date) with goodies, I will be the first to buy it even if it's $200. Same for Rise of Flight. They said they are interested in a re-release with Il2 technologies later, so if they are re-releasing in a collector edition with all premium aircraft and all stuffs, I will buy it for sure. For now I have Iron Cross Edition, but I think I would prefer a complete collection. Edited September 11, 2016 by Nic727
