CF-105 Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 After remembering a comment made on gun sounds in another aviation "sim" I used to play, I'd like to suggest an addition to the new gun sounds, as inconsequential as it may be. While synchronized guns fired at a very predictable rpm, wing guns on many aircraft were not synchronized. This led to the guns of an aircraft like the P-40 or P-51 sounding less like a crisp "RA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA" and more like ripping a really loud sheet of paper, after a few seconds of firing. Though bursts longer than about half a second are not in this clip, I'm fairly certain I can still make out some asynchronous fire: This thread on ww2aircraft.net also covers a lot of what I'm getting at: https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/threads/a-wing-mounted-gun-synchronization.45480/ There must be more on this topic out there, but it is difficult to find information regarding it.
wtornado Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 It does sound chaotic the sound I see where they get the ripping paper effect..
