xThrottle_Geek Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 So, my skills have improved of late and I'm starting to get more air-air kills. Go me! Then, today, I watched as two pilots bailed out as soon as they realized they had lost the advantage and were about to die. They hadn't taken a single hit mind you, but it was imminent. Just bummed that I suddenly see it from two different players inside of an hour of each other. I'm not going to lose sleep over it or anything. Just feels like somebody stuck their dirty finger in my ice cream, ya know? I like my ice cream clean. Just felt like leaving this here. Good day!
seafireliv Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 (edited) Well you must be doing something right! Making your enemies bail without even firing a shot. That`s how you win a battle. Edited September 7, 2016 by seafireliv 1

Sadly, sometimes I think the thing that flightsims most accurately simulate is Human Nature. Grrrrr....
xThrottle_Geek Posted September 7, 2016 Author Posted September 7, 2016 Heh, yea, human nature can be a pain in the rear end like a 20mm. I tend to hold this community in higher regard thanthe other "that which will not be named" flight game. So, one bail out was like, "Huh, I win!" Two was disconcerting since it was so close to the first one. I hope the trend doesnt continue. Happy Hunting!
FlyingNutcase Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 It's a good example of where an intelligent AI would provide a more realistic combat experience than against human opponents. Not just in a dogfight but in higher level tactics too. Just thinking out loud.
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 I count those as kills, even if the game doesn't. This. There may not have been a pilot death but a machine was destroyed and the war effort in the air was diminished if even for a brief time. 3
Rolling_Thunder Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 This is why I don't play MP and why this game needs a better SP experience.
xThrottle_Geek Posted September 7, 2016 Author Posted September 7, 2016 This. There may not have been a pilot death but a machine was destroyed and the war effort in the air was diminished if even for a brief time. I feel this way as well. As a matter of fact, my wingman and I removed the deadliest pilot on the opposing team from having any combat effectiveness whatsoever for about a half hour. Seeing as how the win condition was to destroy the ground objectives I feel like it was time well spent even though no one got a kill. While he was evading us our ground attacker had a field day unmolested. 1

ACG_daffy_ Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 And....by the end of this thread it will be that people who bail out are cheaters...... lol Kidding! It's probably more coincidence than nonfeasance. One thing that has remained constant about these games for decades is the 'he's a cheater, they're a cheater, everyones a cheater....but me' rollercoaster. Just sayin'....
GrendelsDad Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 (edited) If anyone does this too me...Chutekill is on its way... pronto. Horrido!!! Edited September 8, 2016 by II./ZG1_GrendelsDad 1
ShamrockOneFive Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Ehh don't feel too bummed. There are folks like that in every situation... We try to not let them ruin the fun too much. I'd count those personally as a successful kill and a successful mission (hopefully) and just ignore the actual lack of a kill recorded in the software. Sometimes you have to sub in your own satisfaction that you took the enemy out of the fight even if you didn't get credit for it.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Overall I find that this is very rare. I cant remember the last time it happened to me. In fact what I see more is people crashing on purpose to deny me a kill which I don't mind
LLv34_Temuri Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 These kinds of situations are taken into account in the Finnish pilots' War Missions: http://personal.inet.fi/peli/LLv34/LLv34/wmrules.htm
Aap Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 In fact what I see more is people crashing on purpose to deny me a kill which I don't mind Indeed things like that happen, because some people like to game the system. Game is capable of registering things that was not possible in real life and vice versa. For example you could shoot at enemy and miss while he was doing wild evasive maneuvers and crash. In game you are not credited for the kill, because you did not hit him, but I am pretty sure that in real life it would have been reported as a kill. Or vice versa, you get a machine gun round in your fuselage and 0,5% damage and fly away - then do a bad landing and hit propeller to ground (100% damage), the game credits enemy pilot with "SHOTDOWN", even though in real life nobody would have claimed a kill (or at least get it confirmed). 1

Its rare, but these folks are out there, and their reputations precede them. 1
-TBC-AeroAce Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Yeah the kill allocation system has its limitations. It is the when u make a bad landing with minor damage and when I do like 90% damage and somebody else gets the last shot that annoys me. Also assists are worth almost nothing. Maybe a percentage system could be better. Yeah the kill allocation system has its limitations. seafireliv Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 (edited) I have yet to come across this. Had pilots disconnecting though. Those guys are taking this game way to serious. Ah, now the disconnections really annoyed me, not so much because they quit like little girls, but because you`d see the aircraft just dissapear. At least that was the case in IL2. It`s one reason why, despie its defects, I still hold the SP AI Campaign as extremely important. At least the AI fights in the spirit of the sim. Edited September 8, 2016 by seafireliv
xThrottle_Geek Posted September 8, 2016 Author Posted September 8, 2016 Ok, not bummed anymore! Spitfire! P-39!
