JimTM Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 (edited) Following are descriptions for the Return Planes option and the Renewable/Renew Time option associated with an airfield object, based on my testing so far. For those that have used these fields, do you think that the descriptions are accurate? Thanks! Return Planes (Airfield Advanced Properties) Require a multiplayer mission participant to return a plane undamaged to the departure airfield before the available count for that plane type is incremented again. Otherwise, the plane count decreases each time the plane type is used, regardless of whether players return the plane undamaged. Note: You can also replenish planes regardless of their condition by selecting the Renewable option in the Plane Settings Dialog. The "Return Planes" option overrides the Renewable option if a player returns a plane intact. In this case, the plane is added to the available count immediately rather than after the time period specified in "Renew Time". Renewable/Renew Time (Plane Settings) Allow the available count for the current plane to be replenished after a player exits the plane or the plane is destroyed. No matter how many planes are abandoned or destroyed, replenishment is done one plane at a time, with the specified time period occurring between each replenishment. Renew Time (minutes and seconds) for the current plane starts when a player spawns in that plane. For example, assume that a runway spawn point has two Yak-1s available and Renew Time is set to 5 minutes. Two players spawn at the same time and immediately takeoff together. Here are some possible scenarios: - If both players crash on takeoff, one Yak becomes available again once Renew Time has passed, that is, five minutes after the players spawned in. The second Yak becomes available five minutes after the first Yak becomes available. - If both players crash five minutes or more after takeoff, one Yak becomes available immediately because Renew Time has passed already. The second Yak becomes available five minutes after the first Yak becomes available. Note: This option is overridden if you select "Return Planes" in the *Object Advanced Properties Dialog and a player returns the plane to the airfield intact. In this case, the plane is added to the available count immediately. Edited September 5, 2016 by JimTM
[DBS]Tx_Tip Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Jim you might want to add that within the "Return Planes (Airfield Advanced Properties)" the MD can choose how many seconds it takes for the returned planes to be Repaired, Refueled and Rearmed and available for the player(s) to use again. Additionally the MD can also set the radius for aircraft maintenance to RRR returned planes. The defaults are set to 0 seconds for the RRR's and 1000 for the maintenance radius. I am assuming this radius means meters. But I do not know for sure so I always use 1800 or more for the radius. For instance if I set the RRR for returning aircraft to 180 seconds with a radius of 1800m. 3 minutes after a player returns their plane within the maintenance radius and finishes the mission. The plane is ready to be spawned into again. ***Seem to recall bringing back heavily damaged aircraft, or for that matter porking the landing or take-off, and that aircraft would be RRR'd and ready after the designated time lapse. So I don't believe the aircraft has to be completely intact. Tip

During further tests, I found that the "Return" function only works if your plane is inside the maintenance radius (which is in meters) but the RRR doesn't seem to have any effect in my tests. I tried selecting RRR and setting a time of 120 seconds, but when I parked my plane inside the maintenance radius and hopped out, it was replaced right away. I haven't seen any indication in my tests yet that RRR does anything for player-controlled aircraft (not sure about AI). Do you have a simple mission that you could post that demos the RRR function? Maybe I'm missing some small detail. Re. your damaged plane being replaced, is it possible that the Renewable function is replenishing the stock after its renewal time passes? Thanks again!
