Lymark Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 I recently started playing a lot in Wings Of Liberty server now as a German pilot. It seems like objectives are often covered by low clouds, as we'd mostly b&z with 109s, I find it very difficult to defend an objective, since we do not have a line of sight of an enemy, or we'd lost visual on the enemy as soon as we pass thru the clouds. Any advice? Thanks!
Lymark Posted September 4, 2016 Author Posted September 4, 2016 Defend BEFORE the objective, and if they're under the clouds you just need to get stuck in S! Yeah, the former would be the best, but most of the times, the fights are already above the obj and below the clouds. :/ And what do you mean by 'get stuck in'? Like I should burn my energy and join the furball? I surely don't wanna join a fight with no advantage on me.

Tell that to the guys on the ground Btw. you don't need to join a furball to fly low alt cover, fly with speed, if engaged go into the vertical.

Because that seems to be what most Germani pilots do now But seriously, it's tough to fight below the clouds, in Red land, but it is possible. Find a wing man to help keep you clear (check out .4/JG52) and remember that speed is life. Learn what your 109 can do better than Yaks and LaGGs, if you see an La5... Kiss your ass goodbye. Only aircraft that can best an La5 on the deck is a 190... But we don't want to start that here.

Not sure if it´s paranoia or anything else but how about keeping such stupid allusions / accusations to yourself when they don´t add anything to the topic? And no .. your smiley doesn´t make it any better .. You complain about the "other" side whining while all you do is whine all day long ... I´m really getting tired of it - maybe I should make use of the ignore list again Edited September 4, 2016 by 9./JG27golani79

But the fact that you guys react so quickly and vehemently really keeps, in my opinion, these barbs fun. And yes the smiley makes it all better. 4
Lymark Posted September 4, 2016 Author Posted September 4, 2016 I understand that I need to fly fast and speed all that, but here is how I usually end up.. 1) Noticed something happen below the clouds 2) Dive in, go thru and now below clouds, action is in the opposite side of where I dived 3) Use my massive energy to go back up, above clouds, dive to the last known position of the fight(Because I would've wasted tons of energy doing turns and catch up in level flight) 4) They moved again, so I repeat step 3. So, the fight would usually be long finished and objective has lost...

Dive towards objective, fly low for some time, climb up again if no enemy around, turn around, repeat. A bit like a streched Cuban 8. Edited September 4, 2016 by 216th_Jordan 2

ACG_pezman Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 me109 will outturn a la5 24/7 Yes it will. That's why you shouldn't turn fight in a La5.
Lymark Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 Thank you guys! Yall advice are really helpful

Lusekofte Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Confidence is the thing, confidence made P 39 win fights over zero´s , P 40 over 109 in Africa. You need to be like a boxer in the ring, you never enter the ring believing you gonna loose.

II./JG77_Manu* Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Seemingly a lot of red pilots here, apparently being frustrated being killed a lot by German pilots using superior tactics. But seriously, this mockery has to stop.OP was asking a serious question, apparently pretty new to the game (looking at his posts), and instead of helping a newbie, people randomly starting to mock "German" pilots. Has it come thus far by now? I am flying both sides equally, but i could really become angry seeing those populist (false) nonsense posts. Just intoxicating the atmosphere to OP: have a look at the beginning from my Vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qU3_nwcvANc fly with a lot of speed below/in cloud level, as soon as you spot an enemy, go vertical, try to judge as good as possible where he will be, zoom down, and try to get lead. Of course, like always, try to fly with a wingman, who can clear your six if necessary. 1
Feathered_IV Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 In reality you would have an entire unit working with you, but the lone gamer finds things more difficult. Half the formation would remain above the clouds as top cover, while the other half went below. Any friendlies in trouble would climb up through the clouds, hopefully dragging an enemy aircraft up to be engaged by the covering force. The rest would maybe shoot at one or two aircraft, claim three or four victories each, and then fly home. On your own, think of it like a seabird might. You dive down hoping to catch something and climb back up for another go. Most of the time you miss out, but once in a while you will catch something nice. 1
