LLv34_Flanker Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 S! As I am building a new gaming rig I also need new flight gear Already on list for Slaw's Bf109 pedals, but also need a stick + throttle. I have seen some info there will be a new VKB stick called Gunfighter. Pics showed it looks very solid and with the extension very easy to floor mount, which is a good thing. I would like to know when this stick comes out and is that extension a peripheral or comes with the stick? Then to the throttle. Simplest would propably be getting the TM Warthog throttle. Solid and with adequate number of buttons etc. But are there other than that one could recommend? Maybe VKB making some WW2 style ones? Thanks in advance!
Matt Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 I'm also interested in the Gunfighter, i think it was announced for end of this year, but wouldn't expect it before next year. I doubt the extension comes with the stick. The Warthog throttle is good, but you have to keep in mind that many of the two-way and three-way switches require special programming via the Target software, if you want them to work properly for BoS. It's a bit unfortunate that there are no seperate controls in BoS for things like gear up and down, engine on and off, bomb bay open and close, seperate buttons for each supercharger gear etc. But of course even without those switches, there are plenty of buttons and hat-switches which work right away and the three axes are definately very useful. Other other throttles i had before was of that of the X52 and the Saitek Throttle Quadrant. That one of the X52 is OK, but also doesn't have a lot of buttons or axes. And the axes of the Saitek TQ are prone to spiking (i had two, both showed that after limited use) and they really look and feel cheap and are not worth the money imho. I heard that VKB is working on a throttle, but i guess that will take a while.
Bearfoot Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 I, too, am looking for a good throttle solution. I currently have the X-55 throttle. Functionality is great, especially with the number of axis/rotary buttons: have these mapped to water radiators, oil radiators, zoom, etc. Quality is lacking. Problem is (a) ghosting; (b) unstable rotaries. When engaging the throttle, sometimes spurious key-presses are sent. This is rare, especially after using a powered hub, but still occurs. Bigger problem is that the thumb rotary, especially the lower one, does not sit in the rest position well. There is some slop/play/jiggle. This results in sudden zoom back and forth throughout game play. The problem has become worse and worse over time (as in over a few months). To the point now it is unusable for zoom; I rely on button presses on the stick to do that.
dburne Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 (edited) I'm also interested in the Gunfighter, i think it was announced for end of this year, but wouldn't expect it before next year. I doubt the extension comes with the stick. Actually it was originally announced for Q1 of 2016 and then got pushed back. Excerpt from their original press release: <<<The planned availability schedule of the products above is as follows: Gladiator – Q4 2015 Gladiator Pro – Early Q1 2016 Gladiator Plus – Q2 2016 Gladiator Pro Plus – Q2 2016 Gunfighter Mk.1 – Q1 2016 KG12 Grip – Q2 2016 >>> I believe last indication I saw was not too long after the release of the Gladiator Pro, which has happened recently. I too am interested in the Gunfighter and have been keeping an eye out for it. Edited September 2, 2016 by dburne
Sokol1 Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 (edited) Gunfighter will probable be announced for pre-order at end of this month/ beginning of the next, in desktop form, with KG-12 plastic grip. Extension (20 cm) and Warthog/Cougar grips adapter is optional, as well the adapter for Cobra M-5 (Su-33 like) grip. There's plan for optional metal KG-12 grip (~190$) - but as their molds are costly I believe that this option now depends on how the market accept he "WWII - few buttons" grips. So better don't count with this "metal grip" in this year. Next in the line - maybe for end of this year or beginning of next year (before Chinese New Year) - a "metal multi-axis, multi-button throttle" - what make a more interesting option from WWII CFS/G than "dual throttle, multi-HAT, multi On-Off-On switches" Warthog throttle. But as always is need wait more... "two weeks, be sure". Edited September 2, 2016 by Sokol1
Jason_Williams Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 We're behind schedule as has been noted. Gunfighter is in the works. No word on when Pre-Orders will start. Jason
LLv34_Flanker Posted September 3, 2016 Author Posted September 3, 2016 S! Thanks for the info Jason and Sokol1 That throttle sounds interesting, maybe should wait on that one and just grab an intermediate solution meanwhile. The more WW2 look, the better
