And so it begins...

Well we have the news, by next week we will know where the game is heading for it's next adventure.

Now I know some of you are already feeling a little damp sensation in your pants, so I won't say too much just in case the thought process is too much to handle...

1.  We already know that the next patch is coming, and Han has given us a good insight into what to expect (see latest Dev diary)

2.  It's been stated that the Yak 1b and the Ju52 should be available (in game) in about 2 months... (No, not ''2 weeks')

3.  From Jason earlier,,,

''You want DX11 we are working on it.

You want VR in the plan.
You want new planes and new maps, in the plan.
You want new features and tweaking old ones, in the plan.
You want a more hardcore direction, in the plan.
You want more community input into the product like mods and other content, in the plan.

4.  He has also made it known he wants ''to cover all of WWII''

(this was the most encouraging statement, as it was the first time it was made clear he wants to move past the Eastern Front)

5.  When we 'do' find out where the next scenario is going to play out there are things to think about...

(a)  Will we know the theatre only? or will we find out what the plane set  is as well? (everyone get your aviation library ready for possibilities)

(b)  Will Jason's hopes for the SP element of the game be included in the new theatre?

©  Will, hahaha!... that's enough excitement for now... any of you who feel like expanding the list please feel free :)

All I know is this... the last 'two weeks' or so have had so much happen, so much positive information dispensed on the games future, so many positive and happy outlooks posted, that even I'm getting my excitement levels difficult to keep under wraps...

Not going to happen overnight. I'm talking 5-10 years or so process assuming the market survives that long. Original IL-2 is much older than that and it was the undisputed king for 10 years or so. I hope we can repeat that.

You'll know our whole plan for Sturmovik when we make the announcement. I'm going to great lengths to explain everything so all is clear with no surprises, well maybe one or two surprises.

:salute:

lol Jason!... I wasn't expecting you to cover the whole of WWII in the next release... I'm pretty sure several people would have had a stroke

Very nice!

I am really looking forward to the upcoming announcement.

As much as I'm exited for the anouncement myself I think we could do well with less hype threads. It's easier to just wait until next week and save the team some work reading threw all new threads and clarify on comments.

I think I'm old enough, and wise enough to know when I can post mate...

Been checking the "Announcements" page like old lady Sparrow in that "Donnie Darko" movie for the last fortnight.

You can subscribe to the thread and get an email every time they post there. It's nice to get an IL2 email in the middle of work and really get caught by surprise.

Guys,

Wow, with all of this hype and excitement, I'm expecting WW3 to be announced, but, hey, I would be willing to pre-order that now as well!!

Joking aside, it is nice to perhaps at least understand the vision and aspirations of where Jason and the company want to take this Sim and to be included in that and feel that it is a joint effort even if it does require me to buy into it for the vision to happen.

I for one will be happy to go along for the ride, however, not out of ideal curiosity, but as a supporter!!

Regards to all, whatever your views!

We will know soon enough... Jason's remarks to my post has answered at least a couple of my questions, plus has also raised the anticipation levels :)

I just fear knowing the whole thing because in 2026 there will still be threads like, "But, but in 2016 Jason promised me (shuffles papers) here in DEV blog 132 that xxxxx feature would be included and it's still not implemented. HE PROMISED ME!"

And why can't I make the Fw work against that MiG 29? This is $@&&?!!!

He has a vision of what he wants to do that's for sure... the fact that he's looking 5-10 years ahead is also positive.

All he can do I guess is try to achieve those goals. If he gets anywhere near it then I'm sure people will continue to purchase further expansions.

I wish I could outsource my Mondays to India...

The announcement will probably be made this weekend, when I'm on a bivouac with my AAFC Squadron, and I'm cut off from the world.

I wish I could outsource my Mondays to India...

That's easy enough, just call the customer service line of any large Us based company. They will immediately place you on hold for 24 hours and as long as you don't hang up, you'll be carrying Monday in India in your pocket. (Assuming you use a cell phone).

I'll check with guys in Pune/India if they will agree with outsourced Mondays. They are nice people. Only problem is they don't like the idea of being invited to steakhouse (faux pas of my program manager) :O
