AndyJWest Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Excellent work on the shock absorbers. Looking forward to seeing them in action, along with the improved AI.
Jason_Williams Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 The AI optimization has a ways to go. Please don't expect that real soon. Jason 1
Luger1969 Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Hi guys great dev diary. Much appreciated. Perhaps I have missed this- any news/eta on this as per DD120: 9. Correct 'jumpy' behavior of Bf 109 F4, G2 and F2 to resemble E7 behavior and check other planes;
ST_ami7b5 Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 So far so good. And now the question:when the new map will be announced? It will be a very important moment for the BoS/BoM/BosX future IMHO...
Ace_Pilto Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 When are we going to get a 3D model of Han with his Tallhöffer in game? He could run up and Mordhau pilots who still insist on breaking their aircraft now that the tyre pressure/strut rebound has been toned down.
Danziger Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 So far so good. And now the question: when the new map will be announced? It will be a very important moment for the BoS/BoM/BosX future IMHO... It's already been announced that an announcement will be made next week.
Jade_Monkey Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 So far so good. And now the question: when the new map will be announced? It will be a very important moment for the BoS/BoM/BosX future IMHO... They already said it will be announced next week, including a Q&A session on TS. Very happy to hear about the AI improvements and also the jumpyness of the landing gear. Although the quote is very generic, and it could mean anything, doesnt it have a mediterranean/NA flavor? we're systematically collecting historical and engineering data on new aircraft, ground vehicles and the landscape
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Hi guys great dev diary. Much appreciated. Perhaps I have missed this- any news/eta on this as per DD120: 9. Correct 'jumpy' behavior of Bf 109 F4, G2 and F2 to resemble E7 behavior and check other planes; its your joystick read the hardware controller section..nobody that has fixed there issues with the joystick is complaining, to much about it. So far so good. And now the question: when the new map will be announced? It will be a very important moment for the BoS/BoM/BosX future IMHO... if keep your eyes open it was announced in another thread next Friday.

Ace_Pilto Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Could someone please explain to me, in very small words, what a fineness ratio is? 1
WWChunk Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Just for verification, are items 1-79 going to be included in 2.004, or have those items already been implemented?
Sokol1 Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 (edited) This "fineness" was translation issue, was mentioned and explained in one of previous DD (120?) Edited September 2, 2016 by Sokol1

III/JG52_Otto_-I- Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 (edited) http://youtu.be/CMILz8dgyP8?t=2m18s honestly speaking, the Bf-109 can not operate with more than 10 knots (5.14 m/s) of crosswind, Bf-109 was designed for take-off and landing against the wind only, using rounded airfield. If anybody try land a Bf-109, with 10 m/s (36 km/h) of crosswind, like the video of new v.2.004, the accident is guaranteed The FM is not real in this aspect, in the 2.004 video. This is a real croswind landing in a Bf-109 G4 Edited September 2, 2016 by III/JG52_Otto_-I-

Doesn't it depend on exact angle of headwind?
Matt Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 So basically half of the German Luftwaffe was grounded during side-windy days. I kind of doubt that. 5
LLv34_Flanker Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 S! Looks promising. The "thing on a spring" shock absorbers needed to go. Nice update.
HippyDruid Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Great update! You lads certainly have been busy.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Thanks for the update Han. Excellent work on the landing gear, though, I haven't complained about it since EA. Will be fun nailing more landings now that I've practiced for so long with the bouncy FM/LandingM. Also thanks for the improvements update. It's good to see minor and major improvements are continuously being attended to even as you ramp up for the next major announcement/release. Thanks again, Murf
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Looks promising. Can't wait to test the new dampers
Sokol1 Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 you forgot small words... This "fineness" was translation issue, was mentioned and explained in one of previous DD (120?) OK, OK ? Anyway if anyone is interested, is in DD120 discussion - some users explain the meaning of "fineness ratio": http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/21006-developer-diary-part-122-discussion/page-1
1CGS Han Posted September 2, 2016 Author 1CGS Posted September 2, 2016 honestly speaking, the Bf-109 can not operate with more than 10 knots (5.14 m/s) of crosswind, Bf-109 was designed for take-off and landing against the wind only, using rounded airfield. This is a real croswind landing in a Bf-109 G4 As you see on video - it was hard landing. Can't say that it meets safety requirements.Limit which you're pointing is related to safety. Plus it's near to impossible to taxi with such wind. So, this aspect is ultimately realistic now 7

I guess you mixed WW1 and WW2 Tip: Read Steinhoff´s biography.
CUJO_1970 Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Thanks for reminding us about the "fineness" being adjusted for FW-190. As if we had forgotten about it and haven't been dealing with it for the last several months. This latest review I will take it as your tacit approval of current FW-190 FM and confirm what many of us suspect: there will be no change to FW-190 FM and there is nothing to look forward to on this front? Dissenting viewpoints are based on nothing but "feelings", yes?

It is an error, ..In a rounded field, you can taking off in all directions, there is no crosswind, ..never I guess you mixed WW1 and WW2 Tip: Read Steinhoff´s biography. See this wartime video minute 17:00 .. The Bf-109s are taking off in grass or sand fields, not in a runway like we are doing in this simulator the IL-2 CloD airfields are more realistic than BoS airfields. ..And you Know it . http://youtu.be/Ry9sOqkSrvQ?t=17m Edited September 2, 2016 by III/JG52_Otto_-I-

Plus it's near to impossible to taxi with such wind. So, this aspect is ultimately realistic now Great news, i'm all for Flight models and engine management being as realistic as possible... So we might as well start with taxiing, take offs and landings first! Keep up the good work. 1
FlyingNutcase Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 (edited) Nice to hear about the landing gear changes & work on AI optimization; And smoke/tracer/exhaust changes, very cool - it's little things like that that make it feel that we're in a "live" environment. Amazing attention to detail with the many small changes. But Han: #58 & #76 about the canopy changes are the same: 58. Cockpit canopy moves according to physics laws (it can close during dive on IL-2 or La-5 and LaGG-3, it may be impossible to open it at high speeds, etc.); 76. keeno Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Nice update, the level of detail is fantastic. Cheers
