Quick Question

I have not played any flight sims in about 6 years. The last one I played was IL-2 1946. The biggest problem I had was trying to find a server that was in the USA that was full. The EU servers were just about always full, but the ping is to high for me to be a fighter.

So with the new Bos/Bom how many people play this game online on a day, and how many are from the states?

I do want to get back into mil sim, but I need to build a pc, buy a new flight stick. I also would really want to get track IR. I never had track IR before.

I just want to make sure its worth the price to enter. Plus How many squads do we have around anymore? I would like to join one again.

Last group I was with was SKYTANKS.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and respond.

Also what flight stick should I get for this game? This would be the only flight game I would be playing.

Frankly the sim has not done a good job attracting online players.  The online population is not good.  There are typically only 1-2 servers that are full, and most of them are European.  Those of us from North America can play on the Euro servers without too much of a problem, even with the high ping times.

Most of the US servers are either empty or have stupid settings like making you fly multiple supply missions in unarmed transports after 3 aircraft losses (bailouts, ditches, etc.), or both.  As a result, people mostly fly on Wings of Liberty (classic 1946-style almost-full-switch dogfight server) or Berloga (furball, airstart, duel options).

There is a quasi-online-war called Tactical Air War that runs intermittently and is usually decently populated but it doesn't run all the time.

There are lots of squads on both sides that are recruiting, some you might remember from the 1946 days and some newly formed.

There`s a fair few guys who fly from the States. truth is it`s a pretty cosmopolitan and you`ll likely find yourself flying with Brits, Australians, Germans, etc. In cases like this we try to make flying times variable to suit generally Europe and US timezones alternatively. Good decent chaps too.

Can`t recommend Trackir enough. Wonderful piece of kit for various reasons.
