Autopilot won't turn off

Hi.

 

Just got the game.

 

I'm doing the very first taxi and take off mission (what a nightmare). After turning on autopilot to get me to the runway, I hit 'A' again and nothing happens. I can't get control back. Is this normal?

It should turn off from the same key.

Try an air start or on runway see if it repeats. But as Zami said hiting the same key should work
