Hi I was wondering how exactly i can get the maximum out of my MiG-3, I was looking all over the place but couldnt find a guide that explained this.
So how exactly does the mixture work?
Ive seen tubes going into the exhaust, is that a lambda sensor and therefore i dont have to worry about mixture?
So will increasing the mixture just increase performance?
How can the MiG-3 be so good at altitudes if it only has one supercharger stage?

The supercharger of the Mig is optimized for high altitude performance thats why it's pretty bad low.

The Mixture has 3 Settings: Maximum Power, Sea level and Altitude. There's really not much to it. I normally leave it at Maximum Power and just decrease manifold. If you want to save some fuel and be efficient you can use the other two settings.

its true Bombenleger, its hard find info about engine control of mig.

not him, but i ASSUME (emphasis on assume lol) sea level setting will give you rich(high) mixture and best for take off, altitude will give lean(low) mixture for altitude, probable talking above 12,000ish feet here, no idea what max power will give, perhaps leanist mixture? if that is case then have to be careful with engine temp

At low to medium altitudes, I leave the mixture lever at 50%. I can generally meet the maximum speed for those altitudes with those settings plus full RPM and throttle, and with the oil and water radiators at 50% or less. If I need speed and fast, I push it all the way to 100%, keeping in mind that the engine will heat up (not overheat, but get warmer) quickly. Past 5000m, I start gradually leaning the mixture.

No Lambda at all man! Is impossible to fit a lambda in that kind of engine. And to do what? They are not fuel injected!
