Matt Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Hi, I'm thinking about buying a new monitor with 3440x1440 resolution. Is anybody running BoS with that resolution and if so, what performance are you getting with what kind of hardware?
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) I'm playing at that res. My gpu is about to be changed - gtx 690. Ultra + 4xAA with sparse grid supersampling and gameplay is not fluid anymore. I have i7 6700K. If i use 2xAA with 3x distance plus high preset no sparse grid then gameplay is tolerable - maybe thanks to g-sync and 100Hz. Edited August 29, 2016 by 307_Tomcat 1
LLv24_Zami Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) I use that too. When I got this monitor, I had one 970 but it was not enough for this resolution. I had to get another and with 970 SLI it`s pretty smooth playing ultra settings v-sync on. Although I had to drop sparse grid supersampling which I was using earlier with 1080p. And that new long distance grass option is not usable, I got pretty serious stuttering with it. I haven`t used any frame counters for a some time now but IIRC it was 40-50 fps on ground and 60 fps in air generally. So prepare to get a new GPU with the monitor. Edited August 30, 2016 by Zami 1
Beazil Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 1070 - 5040x1050 resolution. Need to get special adapters for 120hz and display port; Settings ultra, 4xAA, 4x ground, gets me ~60-120fps. Ground is about 45-60fps when crowded. This is on a four year old i2600k at stock speed. Trying to get an fps counter to work - NVidia's GeForce experience is not showing the counter in all games for some reason..... buggery piece of software. When I can get a better read, I'll post something more tangible. 1
Matt Posted August 30, 2016 Author Posted August 30, 2016 Thanks alot for the comments. I was thinking about getting a GTX 1070 or maybe even the 1080. I don't think i would be happy with just one GTX 970 and i've so far avoided SLI and don't really plan to use that in the future either. But i'll still wait a few months, hoping for a few more 34" IPS Gsync monitors to hit the market. Main reason for the upgrade, is that i want to replace my dual monitor setup, which i no longer find necessary with IPS gaming UWQHD avaliable right now.
CisTer-dB- Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) I am running 4K res on my GTX1080, Initially I ran into a bottle neck with my CPU and I had to OC it to 4.5GHz to have BoS playable with a solid 60 FPS. Keep in mind that with that resolution you don't need AA. Edited August 31, 2016 by ATAG_dB 1
Matt Posted August 31, 2016 Author Posted August 31, 2016 OK, that's surprising, because 4k should easily be 30% more demanding than UWQHD. So i guess a 1080 might even be able to get close to get close 100 FPS with UWQHD and a 1070 should be more than enough to get 60 FPS on that resolution.
CisTer-dB- Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I know it's surprising. I wasn't impress as well. Soon we will get DX11 and I expect a big jump like it did on DCS.
4./JG52_Lufty Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 I'm running 3x24" screens at 5760x1080 on a gtx980ti and it never drops below 45fps on ultra settings. ...Guy 1
Jade_Monkey Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 For me the bottleneck is the CPU, I barely get any usage of my 980 ti in this game. (~20% each). I've tested a single card and it can run it pretty well. 1
