North Africa, Winter War etc, New Guinea, Barbarossa and Channel, in that order. Various theatres and time frames (lots of work for the team I know, but I am patient )

 

I honestly don't htink Ihave ever flown anything covering North Africa or the Med, so very keen to see something on that. After reading "The 900 Days" a couple of times I would also love to see/fly in the events leading up to that and the war with Finland that is mentioned during it (plus anything based around Leningrad can easily reuse Stalingrad assets) New Guinea as it is the most local theatre to me, and the most relevant to Australia's history. BoB we just had with CLoD so happy to wait for that and play CLoD in the interim.

 

Otherwise keep expanding on the eastern front and I would be happy.

No one has done a truly epic version of this yet...

There is a good selection of aircraft, both early and then later more modern fighters and bombers.

The battle area can stretch from Egypt to Libya and Tunisia, with perhaps Malta and Sicily, Crete etc.  Let alone the fantastic colour schemes from all sides!

The skinners will have a field day!!

 

It's not going to happen though, sadly, as a possible Kuban addon has already been mentioned

Yes, from a conversation I had with Zak.. its been discussed that that there is the possibility that the Kuban will be next after BoS if it is successful.. With perhaps some Lend Lease types.

1. Western Europe, 1944-1945 & Fall of Berlin, 1945  This could even work as one module on 2 maps maybe? The aircraft would basically be the same, so only different maps would be needed.

Or what to think of another theater of operations that hasn't done before like the 2nd Sino-Japanese War, the Manchurian Conflict, Battle of Khalkhin Gol.

If they want to make lots of money quickly - Western Europe 1944 (P-51 vs 190)

 

If they want to make lots of money over a long time and keep people waiting for Western Europe 1944, then North Africa or Channel Map

I am going to put my hand up for the New Guinea, Bismarck Sea, Coral Sea, Solomon Islands, 1942-1944 option.  Hopefully we will see some RAAF action implemented.

My vote is..........

 

I suspect several lend lease aircraft will be in the first add on, Hurri, P39, P40 and Spit? Plus they can start adding some more German equipment. I think 8 plane sets are worth the full price of add ons. They would form a natural bridge to a North Africa Campaign - plane set wise. North Africa would also be good because it is vast (big maps/happy bomber boys) and the ground detail wont eat up a lot of resources similar to BoS. Good planes, interesting skins and smooth gameplay makes for happy simmers. Another campaign in Russia with western aircraft would probably keep both the east and west camps happy. North Africa to Med would keep it rolling and please the western buyers of the game.

 

No inside knowledge - just an opinion.

 

So, I'd say Kuban for theater and an 8 plane dream set could be:

1. P39

2. P40

3. Hurricane

4. A20

5. Yak 9

6. Bf 110

7. Ju 88

8. Fw 190 A4

 

Good mix for both sides, lend lease, and an excellent Russian fighter. Could be good.....................

Based on RoF, they will probably concentrate on adding planes first.

 

I would think the first addon map will probably be eastern front to leverage the plane set. Based on the size of the Stalingrad map, likely candidates are: Leningrad, Kursk, Kharkov, Crimea/Kerch all of which cover fighting from late 41 to late 43/early 44.

 

Kursk, Kharkov is probably too similar to the Stalingrad map and Crimea/Kerch may have a limited appeal. I would not be surprised if Leningrad is the first addon. Based on the quality of the RoF Channel map, I am sure it would be a work of art.

i am also for the Kuban early 1943 scenario as adon. its an interesting area ( the Kuban was one of my favorite maps in old IL2 ) and the planeset would be interesting.

I honestly don't really care what theatre gets made after Stalingrad. Personally, if BOS is a success then whatever.....we can get modules one by one. If the game is good. Hell, Spanish civil war, continuation war, flying tigers, invasion of Poland, Med, Africa, Pacific. Just bring it on :D

Hmm I miss a Norwegian map, lots of fjords to hide when flying low, all kinds of weather, plenty of

ships as targets. But I got a theory why we will never see it.....

European Theatre: All of the Eastern Front to begin with. We have a good base with BoS so I would guess that if they keep at it we might see new planes and news maps quicker than if they were to adress another theatre of war.

 

However AFTER that I would love them to take on Pacific Asian Theatre: The carrier war and the early campaigns such as Guadal Canal. I just love carrier operations and.. no.. it has never been done well.

pacific, ships is whole new thing, but I can understand if the devs don't want to tackle that and (would want to get the features like dynamic weather etc down first) would rather do something like Mediterranean

1. Malta and invasion of the Italy. Possibly with North Aftica and Middetran, but the escalation of siege of Malta smmothly transferring into invasion of Sycily and then Italy proper is an epic career patch.

2. Winter / Contiuation war. Flying for good guys in Bf-109, it's like eating the cake and having it.

3. British channel. Overdone, but never gets old.

4. Poland 1939 - one sided as it is, I want it.

Good that the Med/North Africa has the most votes... it's about time someone did this area of operations proper justice.

But I guess it will be yet another Russian scenario, the Kuban has been mentioned by the devs

Yeah, Kuban is probably next. I'd be surprised, however, if they didn't go Med after that. Good usage of exsisting plane sets, at least for the axis side and probably some of the lend lease stuff if it is implemented for Kuban.

Yep. I voted for the Med too. For pretty much the same reasons as above.

 

But, now that the Kuban with an expanded planeset has been put forward I can't say I will be complaining too hard.

 

Bring on the lend lease P-40s too please devs, after all:

I voted for med, for reasons stated above. Especially Tunisian Campaign would make a good next modul, since it would have interesting planeset and at the begining allies didn't have total air superiority. Also the German planes and some of the allied, could be used in Kursk and Kuban modules. If (and probably when) this sim stays in Eastern Front in it's next module, it really should be Third Battle of Kharkov, that would tie things up nicely for both Kursk and Kuban with gradually expanding planesets. The problem of course could be marketing. I think that only Eastern Front Battles largely known in west are Barbarossa, Stalingrad and Kursk. Then again, it could be "IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad - The Aftermath"

 

Then again I guess this would be not a problem in Russian markets.
