TG-55Panthercules Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 (edited) I'm wanting to embark on a project to try to fix some jaggy-forest problems with the map(s) in RoF (details in this thread: http://riseofflight.com/forum/topic/48578-way-fix-forest-zig-zags/ ), but I'm a total noob as far as playing with maps go and so far I haven't had any luck trying to figure out where to even start to open up the map(s) and try to fix this problem. With the pre-release of the new BoS/BoM collector planes as inspiration, I will be happy to gift any one of the collector planes (of your choice) to someone who knows what they're doing with RoF maps and is willing to tutor me on how to manipulate these map files so I can make the changes needed to resolve these forest jaggies. I'm usually a pretty quick study, but I'm starting from scratch here as far as map modification goes, so it'll probably take more than just sending me a link to get your reward - but frankly if it turns out to be that easy and I can learn how to do it like that then I'll still be happy to make the gift. Hope to hear from someone. Cheers, Panther Edited August 27, 2016 by TG-55Panthercules 3
Europa Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Hey mate, I just had a glimps on your topic without any answers. Don't know if you have fixed your problem or not and I am not after the free price. Thanks for that. But I got some piece of information to share, it may give you a hint or something to start with. I am not sure if it will help or not and it is not pin point directly related with RoF. Frankly I have no idea about making maps in RoF but I previously made sceneries for MS Flight Simulator X. As you will guess the ground textures are consists of tiles. For ground textures we used "Alpha Blending" technique so that the texture can blend with an other overlapping texture so that they dont appear like jagged huge squares. And for annotations, I mean the 3D objects placed on these tiles we were placing them by a annotator tool manually. So that is the general principle, more or less there has to be a similar way or other in the RoF creation too.
