Easy settings

Before I buy the game I was wondering if there are easy settings where one doesn't have to use engine management. If there is, then are there and virtual squadrons that use easy settings?

Yes there are easy settings but most squads do no use them

There is normal and expert settings in campaign and MP. At normal settings you don't have to worry about engine other than adjust throttle. In campaign you can select either one, in MP it depends on server. There are both normal and expert settings servers available. Don't know about squadrons though, I think most of them use expert.

There are lots of "helpers" you can use in the game, so difficulty is very "customisable".  As the others have said, online it depends on the server and the squadron. Mine, for instance utilises external views (so we can watch each other cock up our landings) but hopefully you'll be able to find a group of like-minded simmers!

So easy, normal and expert settings? I wouldn't mind a harder then normal start-up, for me at least I wouldn't find spending a lot of time with engine management especially during dog fights. Hopefully there are some squadrons that use normal settings.

You can customise in the Quick Mission area so you can learn how to fly a particular plane without being overwhelmed by too many unfamiliar systems.

 

In Campaign it's just Normal/Expert.
