New Theater Announced Tomorrow??

Recommended Posts

My hope is, that in the future we will see more community projects similar to the old Il-2. When Olegs team did not have the necessary time and resources to create additional content, talented community members created many of the maps, planes and ground objects that were later added to the game in official patches. That's how the Solomons, Bessarabia or Slovakia maps and the cockpits for the Pe-8 or the P-36 were created. Unfortunatly it seems that this "do-it-yourself" approach has only survived in the Russian BoS/BoM community. Maybe this will change when a mods on mode will become available.

Taylor Swift has been in a giving mood lately...

But she isn't stable, she likes to change her dates every now and than :)

I am pretty sure as a community we can all pull together and do something. I myself am a CAD guy and it's no secret that I can also skin and texture. I would do that free-of-charge and free-of-royalty just to keep our community alive.

Did I miss something? Are the devs broke?(have no money for those unfamiliar with the term).

I came in here to see if there was any word on the new theatre and it sounds like the devs are now a charity case. I'm pretty sure the devs will get the funding without the need for the community to panic.

Maybe you should read up a bit, get your bearings, figure a few things out, think a second, then type.

Give a whirl and see how it works out for you.

Kickstarter campaigns are great if you get funded. What happens when we fail? Can you imagine the negativity that would go down if that happened? The combat-sim community doesn't take disappointment well. When you don't meet the Kickstarter goal the money goes back. Remember when Luthier did his WWII Kickstarter for DCS and almost didn't make it? He only asked for $100K. Not a large sum of money for a sim development team at all. Didn't turn out well for Ilya or DCS as far as I can tell.

If you just want to gift us money that can be arranged.  You can send direct to me if you want. Gracie loves the cheese! Kibbles all day for her!

Be a good way to learn, share ideas, support each other, work as a team, donate work for future release idea's in supporting what we want, earn a credits mention under; encouraged community involvement within a game, build a portfolio for future employment interest. Students currently studying within an educational setting ,could also encourage a wider view. Incentive is a good thing..

Mission making: Viewed many community members doing this solo, what about working together more on these?

I think that's when they expected the budget approval but it looks like it may take a bit longer?

I think everyone here has similar feelings, but some things cant go any faster. Until budget gets approved there wont be announcement.

And until everyone buys the collector planes the budget won't get approved. So everyone buy them. And buy extras for your friends and family nothing would make a better early mother's day gift than a Yak-1B. Anniversary coming up? She would love a collector plane set. Need gift ideas for a baby shower? Give the gift of Il-2.

If 10,000 people gave us $500 we could make it all and give 1C a nice profit. It seems easy until you try. LOL

Jason

You sold 50000 BoS copies if I'm right (14000 according to forum stats + approx 40000 according to steamspy). If you can sell us for 100$ of planes/new theater, then you win! Let's make simulation great again!

I said this. You just quoted me.

Buy more planes everyone!

Make more planes to buy, devs!

I'm sure we will all get the budget sorted in no time.

And who said this?

Good sales one the collectors surely make a good impression in the conference.

Thats the only reason why i bought 2 planes that i most likely wont fly more than a few minutes:)

EDIT: That and the fact that i am a collector and they are cheaper if you buy them now:)

Ah, I see... it's not an official statement then, because you made it sound like one.

Try not to paint a bleak picture to any casual user dropping in here... they might have thought the game was in dire financial trouble if that was the case.

It was probably 5M on top of BOS sales, not including BOS.

Also note he mentions a nice profit. The costs are a bit lower.

I would really love to see them turn a nice profit, and show that depite being a niche market, there is still potential for business.

+1 the world needs more successful companies making flight sims

This is hilarious lol. Thought of giving FW190 as a baby shower gift.

All things considered concerning all the Fw-190 discussions here maybe it would make a better crybaby shower gift? Just sayin'. :)

I think if the Pacific or North Africa were announced; it would far exceed these numbers.

Just think:

North Africa lone would do it.

Axis:

  • Bf-109E-7/Trop
  • Bf-109F-4/Trop
  • Bf-109G-2/Trop
  • Bf-109G-4/Trop
  • Fw-190A-4/Trop
  • Hs-129B-2/Trop
  • Bf-110E-2/Trop (w/Mk.101 30mm gunpod)
  • Ju-87B-2/Trop
  • Ju-87D-3/Trop
  • Ju-88A-5/Trop
  • He-111H-6/Trop
  • Ju-52/Trop

Allies:

  • P-40F-1
  • P-38F-5-LO
  • Hurricane Mk.IIc
  • Hurricane Mk.IIb
  • Spitfire Mk.Vc
  • Martin A-30A Baltimore Mk.IIIA
  • Typhoon Mk.Ib
  • Beaufort Mk.Ib
  • Beaufighter Mk.Ic
  • B-24D-10
  • SBD-3

I am sure I am missing a few.

Contract the ATAG guys out to work on a Western Front/Pacific/Med while you guys focus on the Eastern Front. Get those guys away from CloD and bring them over. Pay them once they're finished. Hell they might do it for free....

Whatever the next theater is, I personally hope the next one attracts a lot more new simmers out there. :)

Great list! One correction I have to point out... the Typhoon is my absolute favourite fighter of WWII (and the related Tempest) but its not appropriate for North Africa. None of them fought there sadly. The Spitfire V could probably easily come in both Vb and Vc configurations (both were common) and also with the Volkes and Aboukir air filter variations.

I just hope they Pull away from the Russian front ` .

Italy would be welcome .

nope, finish up the Russian front with Kuban before you head off to some other theater

Think so too asgar. This would make the most sense and give them a little space for planning of the next theater. Also for Kuban: Beautiful landscape, great planeset with lots of lendlease aircraft and sea!

Yep, could not agree more, lets get away from the Eastern Front... they have had two go's at it now so lets move on and give fans of other theatres some love.

Posted (edited)

Finishing up the russian front sounds logical, but it's going to be a buzz kill.

It will turn away many players that are so crucial now (according to Jason).

So be consistent with your words, if you want to increase sales to keep the genre going, dont turn people away with yet ANOTHER eastern front theatre.

Edit: also, i dont think current players would be as turned off if they switch theatres, so the upside is clear.
