Bad feeling about russian 20mm.

It’s interesting that when ”blue” points something out like the OP does these ”feelings” are dismissed out of hand and are ridiculed. Now when “red” has “feelings” why the red guns are so much better we should take that seriously? Looks suspiciously like a double standard to me or are red feelings better than blue per se? Maybe we should start respecting other people’s opinions instead of brushing them off and stop labelling them red or blue?

How about something not based in feeling? Here are some numbers from Flying guns of WW2 by Anthony Williams and Emmanuel Gustin concerning the relative power between 50-cal 12.7x99, Berezin 12.7x108, MG151/20 and ShVAK 20x99R:

The book lists a table for a weighted power ratio between the guns on page 330 that gives the following average power per calibre: 50-cal 12.7x99=4.5, Berezin 12.7x108=6, MG151/20=17 and ShVAK 20x99R=13.

So in this compilation a 151/20 hits roughly 4 times as hard as the 50-cal, 3 times as hard as the Berezin and 30% harder than the ShVAK. Note that this is a weighted average combining kinetic and chemical energy and belting and if you want to argue the relative rating between the different guns do that with Williams &Gustin not me cause I’m just reporting their findings.

I really hope to see the Spitfire soon because il will be probably a sort of kingmaker all around for BoS. No wood this time and new weapon Hispano 20mm, and nobody could say "Lutfwhiners" when people will make comparisons (may be) between Spit and Yak. It would be also the best "real" tester finally for the FW.

I guess if we have a spit 5, people will probably be very disappointed by the comparison with the yak under 4k :)

I also think that it would not be the super uber plane it is imagined to be. Its a great plane, don't get me wrong, but the Yak-1 is also a great plane. Many people tend to underestimate the russian aircraft while overestimating western aircraft.

Btw: Wood isn't such a bad thing.

Russian aircraft were and are VERY good. There is absolutely no doubt about that. There is a reason that allied won the war other than Hitler being mental:)

But NOT this early during WWII.

If relative performance of airplanes remains modeled like its is right now the germans will be utterly destroyed during later war scenarios where russian planes actually historically REALLY performed better.

Spend the 6 min of your life to watch this

I have a very bad feeling about German's 15mm and 20mm cannons if I watch this whole video they are just too much overpowered....is this good or bad?....I known just another bad feeling to share....:rofl:

With all respect dude, this is just exaggerated. You fly with gunpods and fire at very close distance from the target. You should have to desintegrate your target with this configuration from those distance.

Yeah, can't wait for Spit 8/9. People flying mostly for the red side have been suffering for years already, flying poor and underpowered wooden crates. Take the yak for example, its effectively out-climbed, out-turned, and out-rolled by the easymode overnight acemode rocketship also known as 109. Oh and the 109 is also faster at all altitudes and it retains energy way better than the yak + the magic slats and prop hanging you all know what im talking about.

So yeah, really excited for the spitfire. Oh boy, the revenge is going to be sweet. I can already imagine what the whining is going to be like when ze luftwhiners meet the spitfire in combat. Now their beloved 109s are going to have to taste their own medicine. Those tears are gonna be bittersweet.

No more nerfed russian cannons to please lufties. The hispanos are gonna be like chainsaws. Cutting germans into pieces. They are gonna whine about them be sure bout that.

Real tester? Here are the facts, I know it can be hard to comprehend, digest them slowly.

The spitfire is MUCH more maneuverable, if you even try to dogfight it with your 190 and the spitfire pilot turns out to b competent you'll die within seconds. The Spitfire will out-turn, out-climb and accelerate way better than 190. Also the energy retention of the spit especially in tight turns is so much better than that of the bulky 190. Also the CW version will out-roll the 190 at lower speeds, so don't even dream about out-scissor it. They are approximately as fast, with some minor differences(10kmh or so). The spitfire also handles like a dream, with no tendency to drop wing violently like the 190. It's just the superior fighter all round. The 190 simply doesn't stand a chance without a big altitude advantage. Without altitude advantage the 190 is just forced to dive for the deck and hope for the best.

Who says Spit 8/9?

Stay on Spit V, LF may be, or better an Mk.Vc (my love) with the sand filter drag.

It's soon for an Mk.VIII i think.

It's just the right time for Spitfire 8 or 9. You've been able to slaughter and dominate the soviets with 109 for a couple years already. Its about time we get the upper hand :P

Battle of Sicily is approaching

You've got it all wrong. Its a matter of historical accuracy, at least have contemporary planes fly together.

This is not War Thunder.

I think flown right with good wingmen, all planes would be über planes , the most terrible place to be is I front of a enemy with weapons. I am not at all surprised that any edge red side must have would be criticized by blue.

It might not be the intention of this tread, but it sure have been a lot of them. Same in early days of tf COD

You must have never been in front of me then. I feel that is the safest place to be if I'm shooting at ya... On my 12 :(

</sarcasm_on>

But, maybe it's not my crappy gunnary skills... Maybe it's the OP 109's?

:D
