Dont think you cab play them back Mastiff. And even if you could when the newer version comes out you cant play the old tracks.

On another note. I tried out the 109 and it feels great! And man does it look pretty. Flying formation, i got a real chance to admire that plane in flight. Im looking forward to the guns release!

anybody know where the recordings are saved?

/data/tracks in main game folder.

It is an interesting change from the Lagg indeed. But there is something fishy about its flight characteristics. For one a 30º climb at sudden drop to 0 throttle and keeping the stick back the bird just levels out.

Gave it some flight at high speed and compression feels less. I reckon over 600 km/h shallow dive one would struggle a bit more with the elevator, but is okay for the build :)

The sound is absolutely amazing. Going from a cold dead start, working the revs, i swear the creaks of the hinges of the ailerons can be heard if sound is correct.

The roll rate is quite on the spot and rudder control feels very natural. The high speed turns are quite fluid  but can keep my nose elevated while inducing flaps without coming out in a roll to regain speed, doesn't snap the high wing, but maybe i'm a bit picky :)

Must say the Lagg cockpit looks more refined overall.

All in all a great display of days to come.

Gunsite is centered. That's bad thing.

Weird, mine is way off to the right.

My first impression of the F4 is that it's way too powerful (relative to IL-2), climbs like Lance Armstrong on EPO, graphics: cockpit/outside-view, so-so (relative to the LaGG-3), sounds: again, so-so (relative to the LaGG-3).  Early alpha status notwithstanding, my expectations were, perhaps, too far over the moon... :(

I think you are saying the same thing with Dkoor basically.

As in ROF (? don't remember exactly), all the default views are gunsight centered, even if gunsight is sightly on the right cockpit side or higher than it should be when normally seated..

Easy to put back your head in cockpit center using pilot camera left/right though.

I think the engine sounds great. With my 5.1 surround-sound speaker system, it really sounded good.

OMG, this plane is so spectacular right now, handles so effortlessly in the air, taxi is smooth, just an amazing job. Not surprised given this dev team. you guys keep up the good work and put gaijin out of buisness!

So far, the 109 is a delight. It just feels like what everyone says about the German machines during the war, that it had an unparallel finish. It feels just like that - a slick flying piece of art. The cockpit is amazing. You guys did an awesome work. The FM looks very believably too. I also made a good landing, with little bumps, metal winches and all and it feels like there is a real plane inside my monitor. I can imagine with ORift...

Can wait to see the Yak and the FW 190! Way to go guys!

Should the rudder be so... squirrley?  It seems the slightest input has the nose wobbling all over the place.  Looking down at the pedals it doesn't seem that I'm moving them much at all with a slight input, but if they're that sensitive then it may be time to put the Saitek Combat pedals out to pasture and invest in the MFG Crosswind set.

Setting a sensitivity curve will be a lot cheaper and more useful

Yes, after few more hours of flying, have to admit BOS 109 is very nicely done.

Can't wait for more fonctional features in it,

Sounds are finally amazing and very immersive.

One thing really missing is an improved gauges glasses reflections though. Actually they are not rendering well, if not at all...

At least thers hope they will fix its FM....I was hoping I wont see another "pup" or "camel" in this game...

However...this is probably one of the reasons why ppl reported "rocket" climbing:

time for climbing at maximum power is not limited

I tested it over 3 hours, and the FM feels very fine, the compression on the ele is modeled very nice, spot on i would say! The climb power is correct, we see the DB 601E-1 with ata 1.41 here, BUT like it was written in the patch notes, it will not overheat currently, so that will be done soon i guess, and then you will not be able to climb that fast again

The dive, the hi and low yoyos are pretty to fly! SL top speed is spot on to its historical data, so all in all a very nice spot on FM which needs only some little addons like engine overheatig

Snappy Salute to the devs!

Did a quick speed test climbing up to 6000m and enabling the horizontal autopilot

Flying at 1.42ata & 2700rpm I could not get beyond 465kmh IAS which should be ~630kmh if I am not mistaken. That is at least 20kmh too slow for this kind of boost and 5kmh slower than a 1.3ata & 2500rpm bird.

Btw closing the water radiator had absolutely no impact on air speed whatsoever which was weird to say the least.

I guess the FM for all of the planes is still very much WIP so I will wait some before getting out the tar & feathers...

Good question. My antialiasing isn't right either.

I am using nVidia Control panel and trying to force AA with FXAA and it doesn't seem to take effect.

SweetFX --> SMAA

Works perfectly, only downside is that it does mess a bit with ingame text...

I don't see why it's wrong. The maximum speeds given for an aircraft is usually the highest achieved for a test aircraft under ideal conditions.

The conditions of your test were far from ideal.

If the level autopilot resembles that of RoF, it uses the control surfaces to keep the plane level rather than trim - Far from ideal.

We don't really know what the loadout of the planes are. I suppose you took less than 20% fuel? But we really have little idea if the adjustment even works at the moment.

We don't know if the guns in the plane are loaded. The weight of the ammo may well be there, and we're just barred from pulling the trigger.

Radiators are still on auto and can't be forced closed.

All this, and you still manage to get within 95% of maximum speed on your very first attempt. I don't see how that's a poor FM.

It's currently impossible to operate the radiator. It will show up in the hud, but it has no effect.

That might also explain the too low speed you're experiencing, because the radiator is open when you go full speed.

Sethos---Thanks for your video, great to see and hear the 109. For those of us that can't fly yet. Thumbs-up.

Indeed, the radiator is wide open most of the time and there is little you can do to change it currently. For a top speed test at a given altitude, you need to climb above the height you wish to test, throttle back to 75% or so and stay there for a few minutes to cool the engine off. Then the radiators will close up and you will have 30s or so to do a proper top speed test. The window is brief, so for the time being I'm staying away from such things. Will wait till I can close the radiators and keep them closed on my own.

Why these planes are so wobbling or swinging like they hang on gums?

Why these planes are so wobbling or swinging like they hang on gums?

Maybe depends on the controls of each individual player and the axis curves, especially rudder.

Did mine quite gentle up to half angle and more steep in the end for the kick. Same with the aileron.

Has anyone created an image of the BF109 cockpit with the controls and dials labelled?

Posted

I've been meaning to ask this too.  I can't snap roll either plane.  Well, with the 109, I just tried one time  :)  and that resulted in an inverse flat spin.   :o:

Snap Role is possible in BoS, it just a lttle bit more difficult to get the plane out of it.

Last week I noticed with the LaGG, that I wasn´t able to perform the manneuver against the torgue (sp?) effect of the engine. Same direction as the effect was no problem. The same goes for the forced spin.

Did anything changed for the drag while landing? It seems more noticible now in the 109, which is good, but the plane should definetly shake more when the flaps are fully out.

Kwiatek IIRC you're a RoF player, so you should really be familiar with the way planes feel in Digital Nature, and which real pilots say is very close to the real thing.

No wobble with my MS FFB2 here.

Posted

Because the pilots are making them wobble.

Swap ideal for standard and we're good to go...

Btw cold weather (denser air) is usually beneficial for an aircrafts performance not detrimental

And I dont see where I said that it is a "poor FM", your misinterpretation of my observations, mind you I didnt wrap them in cotton candy but still...

Ok, let's just say, that you suggest, there is an FM issue regarding top speed, and not "poor FM" - mea culpa on that one.

I still don't see, why you consider reaching over 95% of designated top speed on your first attempt - with no pitch control, using automatic radiators and level autopilot instead of trim - to be far off? To me, that would seem to be what to expect.

109, Lever on the left side of the cockpit just under the canopy hinge line, forward locked backward unlocked.

True, but the virtual pedals in the 109 pit look like they're moving in perfect tandem with the real Saitek combat pedals.  Full deflection with the real feet = full deflection with the ghost feet.  It's not like a tiny push with the Saiteks make the virtual pedals go half deflection.

I'll try curves first, of course, but making tiny corrections with the Saitek pedals is tough, and I'd like to not gimp the extremes of the curve with over sensitivity.  Plus I'm looking for any excuse to spend money on gear... haven't bought anything since the Warthog over a year ago.  ;)
