I./JG1_Baron Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) 3D model is awesome Edited November 25, 2013 by II./JG1_Baron
FuriousMeow Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) In Expert mode? I think just not working yet. In case it was auto controlled, I would the gauge for prop pitch expect to show me (in case it´s functional already of course ^^) Gauge was at 6 o clock whole time Yes, in expert mode - I thought the 109 had an automatic radiator and prop pitch system from the F (or maybe even E) model on. EDIT: Matt said it, they were auto but could be set manual. Edited November 25, 2013 by FuriousMeow
Mags Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Lovely airplane to fly. Very easy! Remember to use the rudder on take off. But trim isn't implemented yet?
Matt Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) But trim isn't implemented yet? Trim for the LaGG isn't implemented, but for the 109 the adjustable tailplane works fine (it's a different command than pitch trim). Edited November 25, 2013 by Matt
FuriousMeow Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) Weren't 109 trim tabs set on the ground with no in cockpit controls to adjust them so they were configured for level flight at a certain speed only? Or was that only the 190? Edited November 25, 2013 by FuriousMeow
siipperi Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Shouldn't 109 engine shutdown if you fly with it long enough reversed (head down)? I tried it and managed to fly few minutes without any problems. Does this still need to be added to game or 109 doesn't care how you fly it? Haven't studied one bit of this but I would expect it to do same as P51 and eventually run out of fuel when flying head-down. And how it feels? Liking laGG more I must say, much easier to handle but still want to experience with weapons before saying more.
III/JG53Frankyboy Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Weren't 109 trim tabs set on the ground with no in cockpit controls to adjust them so they were configured for level flight at a certain speed only? Or was that only the 190? elevator had trimm ( moveable stabalizer), ruder and ailerons not.
FuriousMeow Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Regarding manual engine control for 109F: The list of Bf 109 F-4 features that are not available in this version: - time for climbing at maximum power is not limited - manual prop pitch unabled - manual radiator control unabled - some of nuisance failures turned off as well as instruments - trimmers are off - any damage to the rear wheel causes drop in max speed of forward flight (to approx 430km/h)

JG4_Sputnik Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 The 109 has a beautiful outside model. The Cockpit though is not as near as good as the CloD one. Very simplistic. I fired up CloD right after BoS and the difference is extreme. Sad for me. And the CloD 109 flies way smoother than the BoS one. Cant say what is more realistic though. Im not 100% sure about the 109 yet...
Mags Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Trim for the LaGG isn't implemented, but for the 109 the adjustable tailplane works fine (it's a different command than pitch trim). Thanks Matt! Forgot about that command. Trim is working.
LastRightsXIII Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I find Bf 109 and click on it..ACCEPT says must select mission..but no missions are listed to choose. Anyone else? Double click should work.
Trickyricky Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Yes, in expert mode - I thought the 109 had an automatic radiator and prop pitch system from the F (or maybe even E) model on. EDIT: Matt said it, they were auto but could be set manual. Okay, didn´t know that. Used to adjust manually in IL2 CloD. And now for something completely different: Do you guys manage to snap roll? In RoF or CloD i got no problems with snap rolls, but can´t really do it in BoS as it seems.
Greezy Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 This is incredible. So fun. I have never come close to flying a 109 but this feels right. Downed two friendlies by way of very gentle ramming. Question: Does this plane have trim? Or is it not implemented yet? Also, how does everyone get their anti-aliasing to work? Never mind to my last post, I see the devs have mentioned the trimmers are off. Here is the post. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/2460-early-access-second-week-bf-109-f-4-lagg-3/
SYN_Ricky Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Question: Does this plane have trim? Or is it not implemented yet? It has, you have to map another function than trim in the control settings (horizontal stabilizer or something) as in the 109 you move the whole stabilizer and not just trim tabs.
=38=Tatarenko Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 This plane is a complete killer. Can't see us having any chance in the LaGG against this. Definitely rather go to war in this (but I won't!)
DD_Arthur Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Well, i wouldn't say "Wow"...so far. Have to fly it more, but had 3 takes off and landings in same row, and first thought was "where is the FM?" (i couldn't do that at first flight with Lagg) Isn't it supposed to be a little tricky to land and fly?? With BOS 109, i felt a ROF Pfalz DIII....! (speed appart) 109 fan boys will be very happy. German planes are going to be very easy (as in ROF) Furthermore for some reason, incockpit graphics are looking very "cartoonish" here. With or without sweetfx, gauges look like drawings, colors doesn't look natural, and no gauges glass reflections... Lagg looks much better on that point to me (though i've seen better). Kind of desapointed at this moment Was expecting much better. But it's only alpha i have to remind... It seems they have reduced the landing bouncing for Lagg also (had a quick test, and my 2 landings were not like before) But i could be wrong. Just about sums up my feelings so far. After the Lagg3 last week I feel a little under-whelmed by the 109. Could benefit from more work on the cockpit textures. Flight model? I think we really need to get trim working to make the most of it.
arjisme Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 And now for something completely different: Do you guys manage to snap roll? In RoF or CloD i got no problems with snap rolls, but can´t really do it in BoS as it seems. I've been meaning to ask this too. I can't snap roll either plane. Well, with the 109, I just tried one time and that resulted in an inverse flat spin.
Matt Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Flight model? I think we really need to get trim working to make the most of it. Trim works fine on the 109, if you use the adjustable tailplane command. It's the LaGG that still doesn't have trim, unfortunately.

Fifi Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Don't have any skins for Lagg anymore...only default one! Where did they go with this update?
EAF19_Charlie Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 (edited) As a predominately Allied flier I cannot praise this 109 enough. It is a dream to fly. After many missions flying Allied this 109 has got me questioning my allegience. But the motherland must prevail! Awesome plane. Well done Edited November 25, 2013 by EAF19_Charlie
15[Span.]/JG51Chajas Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 LOL VERY GOOD WORK YEEEHHHAAAAAA
Bando Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Has anyone of you seen the compass? I think it's way off. On both planes!! Love to fly the LAGG again. I think I will have much more fun flying the LAGG. The 109 is as easy as pie, where the LAGG is a real challenge. Love to be flying again. Thanks devs
Sim Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Love to fly the LAGG again. I think I will have much more fun flying the LAGG. The 109 is as easy as pie, where the LAGG is a real challenge. Love to be flying again. Same thoughts. Tried the Bf 109.. and the conclusion was.. it's just an über plane Auto mixture, auto-prop, auto-everything Love the LaGG-3 FM.. so much.. more "character".
dkoor Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Gunsite is centered. That's bad thing. Airplanes, both of them (LaG & Me-109), seem to be operating on noticeably lower speeds than those in IL-2. Or at least they attain higher speeds much harder. Haven't got the will to thoroughly test it, but it sure seems so. Snailing around at 300-400-ish kph. Crate is very responsive but also quite wobbly. After few mins you realize this thing is twice the fighter when compared to LaGG-3 series 29. And also... where is that damn honky tonk sound when I pop out the flaps? I miss it. I demand it.
KStyle Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I've been having "fun" just getting the controls set up. I've gotten into the air a few times but twice my wing ripped off while retracting the gear and the third time I was watching the plane flying level a few hundred metres in the air only to suddenly explode on the ground (It was lag which is really weird). I still cannot get my Logitech throttle working. It seems to have a mind of it's own so I am using the keyboard throttle for now.
DD_Arthur Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Trim works fine on the 109, if you use the adjustable tailplane command. It's the LaGG that still doesn't have trim, unfortunately. Aha....Thanks Matt. Got it!
KStyle Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Sorting my control issues. Landed with a but with a dent in the wing.
HoH Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 The Cockpit though is not as near as good as the CloD one. Very simplistic. I fired up CloD right after BoS and the difference is extreme. Sad for me. True. I hope it will get refined in final.
Rjel Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 So far the F4 feels very good. Ground handling seems much better than last week in the LaGG. Different plane or some improvements made to the sim? I'm really enjoying screaming low across the airfield and up and down the runway.
76SQN-J0NJ0N Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Gunsite is centered. That's bad thing. If the head position control is the same as in RoF then you should be able to set a new default head position and also a snap to gunsite position.
frenchfly Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 (edited) Good question. My antialiasing isn't right either. I am using nVidia Control panel and trying to force AA with FXAA and it doesn't seem to take effect. This is how I got AA to work. go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data open the startup.cfg file and change these 2 settings in the graphics section to 0 like below ssao_res = 0 ssao_samples = 0 then in the nvidia control panel I have this Antistropic filtering 16x Antialiasing - fxaa on (this really did improve it for me) try with or without to see the difference Antialiasting - gamma correction: [On] Antialiasing mode: enhance application setting antialiasing setting: 16Q CSAA antialiasing - transparency: 4x supersample (may want to lower depending on your video card) I have a gtx 670 4gb by the way. hope this helps F Edited November 26, 2013 by frenchfly 1
Wolger Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Oh no. I thought it will be released at night Russian time.
1CGS LukeFF Posted November 26, 2013 1CGS Posted November 26, 2013 Gunsite is centered. That's bad thing. See here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/2147-how-do-i-thread/page-5?do=findComment&comment=56750
SOLIDKREATE Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Just hit 740kph in her! (in a dive). This plane must have been the Space Shuttles Great Grandfather because I got to 6000m in 5 minutes! She is definitely not a turn fighter though. The need for speed! Just some hunting fun:
=LD=Rulo Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 So far looks great. Lovely skins and the flight itself was great. It was funny to open the cockpit on flight and suddenly, lots of noice and alt+c didn't work anymore Loved it and it was easier than lag3 =Rulo=
MiloMorai Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Bf 109 has fuel injection. It doesn't cut out when flying upside down. True, but it might seize from lack of oil.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 anybody know where the recordings are saved?
