Luft1942 Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 I have a GTX 1070 with a massive OC and a 4690K @ 4.5GHz yet my frame rate can still be lackluster at times. For instance when the game starts up and I look around my FPS drops to about 35 for a few seconds and then it stabilizes back at 60. Another example would be earlier I was taxiing on the runway along with 3 other He 111s and when I switched to third person my frame rate was again in the 30s until I took off and was in the sky. Is this normal? Most of the time though it stays at 60 with occasional drops down to 56-58 but nothing major unless I'm entering a massive dogfight or there's a large ground battle going on below where it can get as low as 45fps. All my settings are set to ultra with x4 AA and landscape distance set to high. I also have distant grass enabled however I feel I should be able to get a constant 60fps with no dips whatsoever given my stats. Perhaps this is just because the game is still running DX9 and DX11 will fix these issues?
Luft1942 Posted August 19, 2016 Author Posted August 19, 2016 I've got a gtx 1070 running stock as well as a i6700 at 4.0-4.2 and have pretty much the same performance that you are seeing down low. My AA is all through Nvidia Inspector...4x and 4x sparse grid supersampling to get rid of the shimmer. The He-111s are frame whores to begin with so probably normal. I'm not sweating it with dx11 on the way. It's good to know I'm not alone in this. I also have a good many settings changed in the Nvidia Control Panel including x8 supersampling and to my suprise it doesn't even hinder my frame rate lol The absolute lowest I have seen my FPS go was 15-20 while I was on the runway with 5 other He 111s. I never knew that they were such "frame whores" haha Here's to hoping DX11 will be implemented before the year's out!
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I get the startup lag but have always assumed it was something to do with my TiR. I have found that looking to the stops L/R/Up seems to get everything working nicely and have no problems for the rest of the night regardless of how long or how many maps I play.

Remontti Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I have noticed that my fps can drop to 30 when there is dust from taxiing planes or smoke and leaking fuel that fill the whole screen.
