Freycinet Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Nice footage, some guncam I hadn't seen before, thx.
SharpeXB Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I like the dog running after the 109 taking off :-D 1
Voidhunger Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Thanks for sharing! Nice shooting at 13:50 !
69th_chuter Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 At 10:18 an MG FF ammo drum with at least one round in it is passed from the cockpit. That would qualify as a field mod I imagine. That would be a lousy thing to share 109 cockpit space with - lol.
ZachariasX Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Taking the indicated timestamps as reference, the roll rate we have in game is obscenely high in all La, Yak and Me109 compared to what they do on film while getting shot to death... Or is it that much slow motion in gun gun camera footage? Great films though. Thnx for sharing!!
cellinsky Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Interesting landings. I see that the sim is spot on at least in that regard :-) I think one cant compare rollrate and stuff from guncam footage with the sim. In rl the limiting factor is usually the pilot. Insim one can do exhausting flying and fancy manouvres for hours without any penalty. And its not paralizing when being shot at nor is it dangerous. THE big difference IMHO. Thank you sharing, I did not know this one.
II./JG27_Rich Posted August 21, 2016 Author Posted August 21, 2016 I like the dog running after the 109 taking off :-D I got a big kick out of that too.
SAG Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 I like the dog running after the 109 taking off :-D I got a big kick out of that too. We need that in the game now!! or im switching to DCS 1
MiloMorai Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Halfway thru this video one can see Hartmann, http://archiv-akh.de/filme?utf-8=%E2%9C%93&q=Hartmann#1 Lots of interesting videos, http://archiv-akh.de/filme#1
Sokol1 Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Curiosity in the video. To attack the twin engine bombers (???) formation the pilot came straight from dead six like their actual virtual counterparts. A IL-2 take a lot of punishment. And the plane shooting (Bf 109???) fly a bit "wobble" during shoots.

III/JG2Gustav05 Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Big bouncing after Bf109 touch-down is very impressive.
LLv34_Temuri Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 (edited) Didn't F-4 already have a retractable tailwheel? Edit: initially the tailwheels were retractable, but after some modifications to wheel sizes, the tailwheel was made non-retractable. Edited August 23, 2016 by LLv34_T_Temuri

And the plane shooting (Bf 109???) fly a bit "wobble" during shoots. Noticed all of the above , especially the "yaw wobble" when shooting the bomber. Could it be wake turbulence affecting the leading edge slats causing induced activation on one slat resulting in the yaw? Just a thought. Then again maybe not, http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/2718-slipstream-modelling-and-109/ , nine minute mark of video footage. Edited August 22, 2016 by bzc3lk
MiloMorai Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Why would it be the slats as any a/c would be moved around. There is a reason 'heavy' is used by Boeing and Airbus pilots when describing the a/c they are flying. Even in so called clean air the airplanes are moving around. see ~7:00.

Regarding the "wobble" I would say that it's actually rudder action by the pilot to spray the target.
150GCT_Veltro Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 (edited) Great find, thank you! JG53 in Sicily. http://archiv-akh.de/filme?utf-8=%E2%9C%93&q=Jagdgeschwader+#6 Nice also the dog at 14.00, JG54 video above. Great! Edited August 25, 2016 by 150GCT_Veltro 2
