It may not have one. Many aircraft in this game do not have one, even more so in BoM. If you are having issues have you tried turning your prop RPM all the way up? Also Magz made a video about the Ju88 and how to taxi it. \

Once controlled it is IMHO the best bomber in the game.

Love this bird.

But, wow, is she crazy on the ground!

Does not help that my (POS Saitek/Failtek) brake pedals broke, and I have to rely on key presses to steer: the full-brake/no-brake binary input makes things even more tricky.

6/10 of my attempts end up with me spinning like crazy and eventually cracking a wing or running into something.

2/10 of my attempts end up with me nose-diving into the ground.

1/10 of my attempts end up with me stuck in a bog or something.

That Magz video helped a lot with the take-off run: start off with 50% RPM and slowly increase the throttle, tap-tap-tapping the left/right brakes as needed to keep her centered; only crank up the RPM when speed is really up (throttle is max).

Even then, like I said, its 1/10 .... :(

just go slower then. Patience is very helpful when trying to taxi all the aircraft with a tendency to spin.

sry but if you success rate is 1/10...you're bad. It's not the plane. the plane is one of the easiest to taxi and take off. It's you

Take your time , use toe breaks and flaps this can help stable on taxiway .

Be-careful of the snow . Main thing is too take your time .

Thank you for the reply. The video is very helpful and a lot of information that makes the 88 more interesting to fly.    :salute:

I agree that it's me that needs to be fixed.

And I appreciate the challenge.

It took me a couple of weeks to take off the DCS P-51 without problem. A little longer for the DCS Bf-109. I just started with the JU-88.

But to say that this plane is the easiest to take-off ... ?

Compared to the Bf-109, Bf-110?

Yeah ... nope. Can't say that it is. Don't get me wrong, I am acknowledging my lack of skill with this new plane ... but it is definitely not the easiest plane to take-off in the Luftwaffe stable that I have tried!

IMO i think it's also one of the easiest planes to take off in, i've only taxied on the open aerodromes of Moscow so i can't really say how hard it might be to follow a taxi way.

tbh i put the difficulty of taking off right around the 109, it's just they react differently requiring different muscle memory. once i start getting her straight, it's doesn't take a lot of effort to keep her there.

I find Stuka and 110 easy as well, but 109 and 190 can be bit wild on the takeoff run. Ju 88 definitely counts among the easy planes.

The big thing is to understand that you should really take your time. Think about how you would act in 109 and slow it down two thirds. Be slow in everything until rotation approaches!

- Increase pitch to give you better control

- Increase throttle

- Determine clear taxiway and switch to bomber view.

- Be very, very gentle with the plane. Do not touch rudder. The plane taxies like a fine old lady in an expensive dress - there's no such thing as too slow, but too much speed and all goes to hell.

- BIND YOUR TOEBRAKES

- Using about 100 % pitch and maybe only 15-20 % throttle (no idea about ATAs), taxi the plane using ONLY toe brakes. Do not touch rudder control.

- Do NOT get in to snow. Avoid rough terrain at all costs.

- Contrary to what Magz presented in his video, I have found using the simple coarse pitch - closed radiators - throttle increase is quite easy if you understand the toe brake tapping method. Do not count on rudder until you have 100+ kph at which time switch to rudder+toe brake method, eventually ditching toe brakes.

Rotation is different:

- If at heavy bombload (as you most likely will be) and uncertain whether you can rotate in time, engage flaps when approaching ~190kph

- immediately after rotating retract gear

- start to adjust radiator, adjust pitch and throttle to climb mode

- GET ALTITUDE. If your flaps are down and you are below 300 meters, keep climbing, do not retract yet

- you will only climb at around 200kph with flaps fully deployed and will perform a VERY noticeable loss of lift when retracting them. This is IMHO the most dangerous part in taking off in 88, since you have to be very patient and climb slowly at first.

- Only retract flaps when above 400-500m, preferably later, be ready to counteract the dip you'll get when retracting flaps

-Get ready to climb and start to prepare for your run.

Its so strange , i find the 109 and 190 easy and 110 but yesterday i couldn't take off in the JU88 normally i am OK , now this was online and i think it had some issues with input and lag on the server as airfield was very busy , i was down too 32 FPS .

Just a thought .
