LTcommander Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 just did a hard pull up and cut throttle to zero from combat ata in the e7 and suddenly the engine stopped, radiators open and no wep used , was to force an overshoot and he had no gunsolution all the time ,just engine stopped like hitting E button and wont restart and no, no hands on keyboard
LTcommander Posted August 18, 2016 Author Posted August 18, 2016 maybe wrong forum section ^^ just wanted to know if its a normal and known way the DB engine reacts or maybe a bug
1CGS LukeFF Posted August 18, 2016 1CGS Posted August 18, 2016 You'll need to upload a track so people are able to comment better on what happened, next time.
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I know the phenomenon. The Prop is kinda Sluggish to React to quick changes in Speed and may just Stall the engine. Never Managed to keep it off though, Always windmilled back into life.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Any indication your engine was hit? Sometimes the hit sounds are pretty subtle if you haven't "tuned" your sound in the Windows mixer. What season were you fighting in? I've heard, unconfirmed, tales of shock cooling and breaking the Fw 190 radial on the winter maps but I've always been really cautious to avoid it and keep a small amount low RPM even when cutting back hard. Like Luke said, without a track it's really hard to positively diagnose.
LTcommander Posted August 19, 2016 Author Posted August 19, 2016 i should definetly start to do recordings, and i will try to reproduce it this evening. was a BoM map at +4° at about 3k meters and im 99% sure i wasnt hit ,had the prey always in sight ,but theres also the groundfire !

Engine is Ok Otherwise, it's just the slow change of Prop Pitch that stall the engine, like letting the clutch go to fast in a Car. Happens to me as well. It's not catastrophic and the engine comes back immediately.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I don't fly the E7 but I've never had that occur in a G2. I have been known to flog an engine pretty hard after going defensive and slipping or jinking.
