1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 3D vision is caped to 60fps by vsync. In most - time in air i have 60 in ground less - like in standard mode. Cpu the same usage but my duble gpu is utilizeted fully only in 3D stereoscopic mode not in standard mode. So i have resonable performance in stereo.
Rolling_Thunder Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 See VR needs a steady 90fps in order not to make you sick. Where did you read that? That's hilarious BS right there. Or is that your personal experience?I have BoS capped at 60fps and it's perfectly fine in VR. Same with DCS. I've flown both online and have had no problems with both games. In fact I've become more successful in both games online.
Gunsmith86 Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 And "reasonable performance" is? See VR needs a steady 90fps in order not to make you sick. We will see with BoS The reports from DCS don't seem encouraging. Yes I'm sure even with less than ideal performance the experience is still fantastic. But is it good enough for the mainstream as opposed to early adopters willing to put up with all the shortcomings? Unless there is some rewrite with the CPU threads, multi GPU won't make any difference and VR doesn't support Multi-GPU anyways. The frame rate is capped by the commands that DX11 still sends through the CPU DCS EDGE is still single threaded so it's bogged down in VR. Not even the strongest systems get the 90fps and get as low as 20 over any towns etc. That's another game engine and there's enough feedback to read about over there. How Digital Nature handles it remains to be seen but the issue is the same. Flight sims have huge CPU loads compared to other games and 3D + high fps makes it worse I have no trouble whit my GTX 980Ti and I7-7600k CPU DSC runs good with my HTC Vive no slowdowns so far while flying over mountains, low flying over citys, or anything else. Far better headtracking than trackir can do ( very impresed with that! ) To be able to fight on even terms with somebody who uses trackir or something like that, the only thing the game would have to do is make airplanes a little larger than the airplanes for the one who uses a normal screen when they are far away thats to counterer your not so good resolution on your VR. For Singleplayer with VR its allready good enough to be far better than a normal screen. I will never go back after i got it now even if i have to take a view shortcomings ( lower resolution is the bigest one so far but these will get better whit the next version of VR devices. ) If you ask me if it was worth its mony i can say yes it is and in a view years most new PC for normal gaming will be able to handle most VR devices as fast as new development goes when it has to do with PCs. With that it will become affordable for far more people. Couldn´t run BoS with the HTC Vive so far i made it into the Hangar ( the aircraft turning there looks more than great its like being in a museum ) but i cant select anything there because my mouse disapears there and i cant see a menu.
Gunsmith86 Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Well I hate VR, I love my panels and multi pit, VR render it useless and favor equipment with a lot of hat-switches , wait I got that, ok I hate VR the most because I want it and need to buy a new pc and VR. So please someone, say it is a piece of shait Lets put it that way its worth the wait and a thrill of anticipation is allways good.

That's the stated specs for the Rift and the Vive is similar. https://www3.oculus.com/en-us/blog/powering-the-rift/ Obviously people have different tolerances for motion sickness. But the low latency level, high frame rate, is what OR feels is necessary for most people.

But the low latency level, high frame rate, is what OR feels is necessary for most people. OR is very tolerable with a less than perfect frame rate because of asynchronous time warp. I've heard this is much less so for the Vive because it doesn't have ATW. Yes it's hard to run most flight sims at max detail 90 fps, but if you turn the graphics options down both DCS and WT give good frame rates for me with my single GPU system. Honestly you don't notice the reduced visual quality much anyway. VR isn't perfect yet, but it's good enough that personally I have no interest in flying without it. Which is a really common experience, there's a saying that has become very common for VR users on flight sim forums: no going back. 1

One thing that makes players sick can be if you are in a room were you cant see any fixed objects that don´t move ( for example flying in the sky without ground or anything to stay on top ). You dont have that problem with a flightsim because there is always a part of the cockpit visible wich helps to prevent that sickness.
