Mekanikol Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 https://discordapp.com/ This is a pretty cool looking app. It's free and attractive. I haven't used it yet, but the more people that try it out, the more info we'll have about it. It's free, so what have you got to lose?
SvAF/F16_Goblin Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 We have tested it for a couple of months and personally I find it on par with TS.Not everything works perfectly atm (overlays in BoS as example) but OK.
Nocke Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Can anybody tell from own experience if it works on iPhone, please?
LLv34_Temuri Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Can anybody tell from own experience if it works on iPhone, please? Based on this, it should: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/discord-chat-for-gamers/id985746746?mt=8
Nocke Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Thx, I had read that. However someone, whom I am trying to convince to use it, told me it doesn't work for him. Therefore I was asking if someone had iPhone experience with the discord app.
SvAF/F16_Goblin Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Sorry no experience of iPhone but I can tell it works with android if anyone wonders.
J37_Spyboy Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 So is it like Team Speak but you speak into your phone rather than a headset mic?
SvAF/F16_Goblin Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Not exactly, you have a program on your PC but you also have apps for tablet/smartphone that have the same options as the program.
JG13_opcode Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 So is it like Team Speak but you speak into your phone rather than a headset mic? It's like teamspeak with text-messaging that runs on phones as well as your PC.
SvAF/F16_Goblin Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Your answer was much better opcode, must have been really tired when I wrote that above
=/WoVi/=kirumovka Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Should we wait for an official server or should we just create our own? It's free.Currently most pick-up games that I get is from magz' fan-base discord: https://discord.gg/hBuznWF
JG13_opcode Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Given that you can't type while flying, I'm not sure I see the difference between this and teamspeak or mumble.
216th_Xenos Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Given that you can't type while flying, I'm not sure I see the difference between this and teamspeak or mumble. It's not so much a replacement for ts but for forums. It works like a message board.
SvAF/F16_Goblin Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I haven't spotted any spy-ware or spam-ware in it yet.
Nocke Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 if its free, its not spam ware free. That's quite a statement....I have given away some free software myself, and am working with a lot of fantastic free software. All definitely without spyware. Figure there IS people who are cooperative and not only competitive...
Nocke Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Take care, though, where you download stuff. Source forge, e.g., since it has been taken over some time ago, seems to bundle other peoples nice and clean software with spyware on their own, and I think they are not the only ones.
216th_Xenos Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 if its free, its not spam ware free. You should try it, there's no spam-ware.
=/WoVi/=kirumovka Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 (edited) The major problem with it is that if you want to mute a specific channel from spamming @here and @everyone, you can only mute those notifications globally per-server rather than per-channel."Muting" a channel prevents notifications from every other message, which is something i highly recommend on busy channels, especially if you have as many channels as I doOh and it's not spamware. The spamminess is less so than steam in my opinion (which gives sales ads every now and then when you log in without autologin and exit a steam game etc. etc.)...When I first used the program I was rather suprised about how 'free' it is. I's not 'free to use' (contains ads, may use things like subscriptions to get rid of ads and stuff) but actually completely free. The only discord (from the application only and not from the community) specific notifications are basically updates, which are pretty colloquial gaming-language, and perhaps errors, which I've actually never ever got surprisingly. However it did have a lot of bugs back then (I started using discord way way back right after I got this new computer back at the end of january before it started becoming a 'thing') Edited September 4, 2016 by Y-29.ZdrytchX
