smink1701 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Sky seems too bright and you lose detail in the clouds. Is there a way to tone it down?
No601_Swallow Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) Lots of people use "Sweet FX" to tweak the "filter" for the picture the game presents us with. Dunno much about it, since everything is a matter of taste - but to my mind when people use Sweetfx, (judging by screen shots) a lot of people seem to boost saturation (colour) - which may make things more vivid, but often add a green tinge to everything, which then causes them to try to rebalance the picture, which results in a purple shade. Worse (in my opinion) they tone down the brightness, which then starts to crush the blacks, particularly inside the cockpit, making instruments more difficult to read. Anyway, it costs nothing to experiment! So go for it! Personally, though, I hope the devs spent a lot of time trying to make the game look nice. I doubt many of us players will care as much about how good the game looks as the devs themselves, so I tend to side with them. Edited August 16, 2016 by No601_Swallow 1
TP_Jacko Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 You can set the gamma below 0.8 in the config file or calibrate your monitor might help
HippyDruid Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Much like Swallow has already mentioned I could never get SweetFX to work the way I wanted in BoS/BoM as it did in RoF. So I binned it! The gamma adjustment in the config file that Jacko mentioned is currently the only adjustment I have made. I found this increased the likely-hood I would notice aircraft at a distance. It also seemed to dull that distant sky bloom effect. After the latest patch I feel it's even easier to spot aircraft now. I have seen the same thing mentioned by others, but I'm not sure if this is just down to a slightly better frame rate, which is allowing my eyes to pick up the moving objects easier.?!
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 (edited) The glowy horizon is there to overshadow the limited terrain view range of the engine. That's also why it becomes a bigger issue the higher you go until you can barely see anything at altitude. Hope that this will be dealt with after Dx11 implementation as it's not only unrealistic but also annoying when flying at 4+km. Btw, Sweet Fx and Mediator work fine with BoS / BoM. Lusekofte Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I found Sweet FX to be just fine in this regard
