Anyone get a Thrustmaster Hotas X to work on this game?

I have had this game since the day 1 of BOS, and the thrustmaster hotas x just doesn't work on this fucking game consistently.  I don't want to get into a total bitch fest about how the key input page on this game is garbage so i will just ask:

What is the best joystick for this game that just works and retains the key bindings for BOS and BOM? I love the game and just want to play

thanks

Well, I have the warthog Hotas as well as the crosswind pedals with a CH throttle quadrant added.

It all works like a charm.

mine works perfectly. Just plug it in.

Mine, also, works perfectly. Just remember, you have to plug it in, before you start the game, because the game won´t recognize anything, that is not plugged in when it starts, neither joystick, nor headset or anything else.

I have exactly the same problem. Axes will randomly switch or and axis will stop mapping from 0 to 1, and go instead to -1 to 0.

I usually ensure that all my USB devices are plugged in before starting anything and they are always in the same ports. I don't know if it makes much difference though as the problem keeps coming up. However, switching ports also gives problems.

This joystick works absolutely fine on my other sims (CloD, RoF, XPlane10). It is just BoS/BoM which has this problem. But I agree that it is very frustrating and although I sometimes will go through the re-mapping exercise, I often just give up and switch over to one of the sims that works.

And yes, the key/controller-assignment in BoS/BoM is horrific.

Bottom line is that people say this about set controls in every flight sim/game under existence.

This don't exist - every know joysticks can have problems in one or other game. Someone issue can be caused not by joystick itself but Windows version, other USB peripherals, if has habit to plug/unplug joystick all day - mine is always plugged through the year and I have 0 issues with 2/3 different models + pedals.

IMO - Warthog can be the best joystick available on overall (after all is the most expensive :) ), but in their original form is  (IMO) the less suitable joystick for  win "WWII dogfights" , is heavy - what add inertia on movements, can have stiction problems out of box, has axis forces blending.

And besides be the most expensive have additional  "hidden cost": need a rudder pedals (90$  to 600$).

Basically joystick market is divided in 4 groups of prices - in US dollar:

< 100

>100 - 250

>250 - 400

>400

So a better specific answer depends on how much want spent.

For reference on the matter: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/3us2g0/cheap_vs_expensive_hotas_and_joysticks/

BTW - Mk.Mr.X approves BRD-D + with CH F-16 grip (no weight/inertia).  ;)

my t flight hotas x works perfectly. I only use the throttle though.

sounds like its a JS problem, not a game problem.

Exactly.  It works on any other game i use.  I have the thing plugged in and i don't unplug it (i have as a test to see if it would help with BOS and BOM which it hasn't).

For the other question i am will to spend up to 400 if it means that it would work for this game.

like others have said, we can't really recommend one that works, because all should work when not affected by any problems. many of us have owned T.Flight Hotas X's and had no issues, even me when i would read other users having problems with joystick I.D's. though you could start looking at the VKB Gladiator made by Stratojet Controllers (related to 1c game studios) if you're looking for something better than the T.Flight. it's pretty much a controller made for wwII games, more specifically Il-2. it's based on the German KG-12 flight stick.

Salutations,

My concern is about keymapping my new FCS HOTAS from Thrustmaster for tank use in BOS.

I have the tank driving fine using the Z axis slider and Z Rotation (rudder padals for turning) on the throttle. I have a few other things mapped and working from the throttle. I also have the main gun firing using the Right hand T-16000m.

My frustration is not being able to map the Joystick to manipulate the tanks turret cannon using its' Y and X axis. I had the mouse aiming but that is NOT what I want.

Is there any way to have the tank cannon aiming mapped to the joystick and not the mouse? I sure hope so. Oh... I tried mapping the joystick to Pilot Head Control... vertically and horizontally to control the cannon. That didn't work either. Any help would be appreciated.

PS.. this was all done with the in game mapper. I haven't attempted to use Thrustmasters TARGET software.

Thanks

T-16000m.

This is not T.1600M (or other joystick) fault, is due the way game was programmed for control tank (and plane) turrets: only using mouse*  (you know, for please that "casual gamers) axis, but not with joystick axis (for Windows and games they are different things).

So you need translate joystick axis movements in mouse movements.

Tm TARGET can do this. If want test the concept before dive in their not so simple scripts programming, download Joy2Key (shareware).

Select the axis, set for move mouse - can adjust speed, test in game.

* A related "history" for illustrate why:

Fiat Br.20 (in "that" iL-2) originally has their upper turret - that is powered in RL plane - correctly modeled: to be controlled with joystick axis, what result in the best control over plane turret that I see in virtual planes since ~1997 Air Warrior.

But typical CFS players don't understand this, they want turrets controlled by mouse, moving like Windows desktop.

Result, the "Team" try fix this in one of their patches, copying the mouse turret control for pivoted MG's from other plane to Br.20 upper powered turret and "porked" that turret control...

Thanks. I'll check things out using Joy2Key. :salute:

Followup: OUTSTANDING! Thanks Sokol1... Joy2key worked to perfection!
