Just played a bombing mission in BOM to hit a supply dump.

I hit the target with one bomb and the message confirmed the task was completed.

As there were no fighters I turned around for another bombing run and hit the target again.

I then had the message I had incurred a penalty for firing on a friendly.

There were no friendlies there, only enemies.

It was a supply dump marked with red icons.

The gunners were not firing.

How can this happen?

Apologies if this has been posted before; my search for friendly fire came up with no results found.

I've got this three times already. The first time I just thought my bombs just blast-killed a friendly, but no, indeed it was the assigned target...

I guess it will never get fixed.

What you need to do when this happens is find the mission file, which you can find in your game files, and upload it here and tell them where you were, and which target you hit. If you have a track, post that as well.

Its probably not a single easy to solve bug but a matter of certain areas in the career mode spawning civilian or friendly targets in the wrong areas on some missions. Uploading tracks and mission files can help the devs track down where these areas are and fix it.

Or if you were bombing a target near a town and damage a civilian building, you might get this too.

No, it's likely an issue with targets being assigned to the wrong side, hence the need for a mission file for the devs to look at.

In my case, the last two times it happened was a strike mission with a squad of fw190-a5. Both times we were intercepted, my mates dropped their charge but I went on and blasted the target (with the friendly fire warnings).

This morning I repeated the last mission this happened, but this time I did not load bombs and took a different route to target so we got there before being intercepted. Maybe a chance, but I hit several targets (howitzers, AAA, trucks) with no problems. My mates ended up fighting the interceptors anyway, but at least I got the mission done without any warning message.

My next mission is yet again another strike with an intercept so I will try to see if I can replicate the problem and eventually load here the mission file (target this time are tanks so it might not be the same).

Target was artillery near a wooden area, into enemy territory. I also thought that it was likely, as Luke said, a target being assigned to the wrong side.

Will check it out next mission with/without bombs and try hitting the same target if I get the warning.

OK, I've got this again in an attack against an enemy column. First time we were intercepted very close to the target, buddies drop ordinances and dogfight, I keep going, release bombs, message again that I hit friendlies. From the replies looks like I actually hit nothing but trees...

Second time we were not intercepted, we got several hits on the column as well as nearby AAA, no messages.

I'm stumped :)

I attach the mission file just in case somebody wants to look at this.

Thanks, I've reported it in the beta tester's section.
