Hi all,

I'm new in the headtrackers' world so I need some help.

I wanna buy an headtracker without spend 150 £ for a trackir. I found this alternative: Trackhat.

Is here anyone that uses or used it ?

Is it at the same level of trackir ? Which are the biggest difference ?

In addition of ps3 eye which hardware have I to buy together, trackhat or ir clip ? pro or normal version ?

Thanks for the answers,                                                                                                               Friggitotti

I use the Trackhat clip rather than the hat itself and it works just fine. I find it to be a great alternative to TrakIR and much, much cheaper.

I think the difference between the Plus and Normal versions is that the Plus versions are battery powered while the normal versions rely on power via a long USB cable.

Yes

Yes

Which software do you use for the headtracking ?

I use the customised version of Opentrack that they provide on the Trackhat website http://www.trackhat.org/trackhat-opentrack

It works well though you may want to find or create a custom profile for it.

Ok, really thank you for the help

This is really the last question

If I buy the ps3 camera in the bundle with the trackhat have I to remove ir filter from it ? If I have, how can I do it ?

If you buy the PS3 Eye camera from the Trackhat people then it comes already pre-configured for use with the head tracking system. All you need to do is follow the link they give you to obtain the driver software, install that, plug the camera in and do a very small bit of configuration. There is a video on the Trackhat support page that shows you exactly what you need to do to configure the system :)
