SE.VH_Boemundo Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Hello developers and simmers, What about the idea to open the CloD source code? The idea is to give community the opportunity to work on it and contribute with new ideas. You developers can support the development closely and use the better ideas and coding as a start point to develop a propietary and bug free version. Or simply use it on future projects. This is very common in Linux distributions. As an example: openSuse is a general purpose operating system built on top of the Linux kernel, developed by the community-supported openSUSE Project and sponsored by SUSE and a number of other companies. After Novell acquired SUSE Linux in January 2004,Novell decided to release the SUSE Linux Professional product as a 100% open source project. The disadvantange of open source is the scalating of inumerous versions and mods, this in my opinion prejudices the online playing, creating a "babel" online. However there will be space for a proprietary, close-coded version more stable, and bug free. I understand that is valid to open the code and monitoring the community in a way to use their better ideas. Thanks.
SE.VH_Boemundo Posted December 19, 2012 Author Posted December 19, 2012 The advantages are: 1. Dozens of guys working for free 2. Faster development
SE.VH_Boemundo Posted December 19, 2012 Author Posted December 19, 2012 Then move it to free subject area.
DD_bongodriver Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Perhaps, but there is nobody here that will be taking the request/information on board, this entire site has nothing to do with CloD.
Bearcat Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 This thread will remain locked since this team has nothing to do with CoD's source code and has no access to it.
