taffy2jeffmorgan Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Hi All, Well it's not a huge patch [244.61 MB] but i do like the new gun sound effects, the breach mechanism have a pronounced metallic sound and the airfields look a lot more spacious Only tried out the P40/F4 and La 5. Cheers
SAG Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 i like the gunsounds quite a bit... it also seems easier to spot planes despite nothing on the DD about it
Jade_Monkey Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 and the grass, it finally goes around the runway, not just 3m around you
[CPT]milopugdog Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 The gun sounds are hot. The grass is grassy, and the idea of no grinding unless you want to is fantastic.
pilotpierre Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 This post is for no reason other than to see 1000 appear. 8
Trinkof Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 P40 seem to be a more reliable aircraft Feels more stable and engine seem better (only did very quick tests yesterday)

JG300_Olrik Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 No hit performance with ultra grass for me. Better visibility of the runway for sure Only tried 109 F4 New sounds are good. It seems to me that the "rubber band" flight is back ? Did anyone try this ?
Retu81 Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 I like the feature that Standard Edition owners can finally unlock the weapons modifications without grinding through the campaign. I bought the Battle of Moscow because of that decision.

Retu81 Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Welcome here. Good to hear that changes actually win over new players. Hope you enjoy the game. Grt M Thank you, though I've have had IL2:BOS for almost 2 years now. I just haven't played it much.
BlitzPig_EL Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 P40 seem to be a more reliable aircraft Feels more stable and engine seem better (only did very quick tests yesterday) It's still the same glass Allison as it used to be, it seems only the boost/emergency power icons in the techno-chat have changed. Sadly my favorite airplane is only worth flying offline on joyrides without opposition. *SIGH*
=362nd_FS=Hiromachi Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Yeah, I stopped using Emergency power. I only use Combat (which is 70+ %) and is obviously not enough to do anything, including chasing faster attackers like 110. I love this aircraft yet I feel so unbelievably helpless in it. Even I-16 is a lot better machine, and when I see that Ishaks escort me in ground attack mission ... Pittyhawk it is

It looks awesome though, in Clive Caldwells colors. The AVG "77" never was a P-40E but R.T. Smiths P-40B

It seems to me that the "rubber band" flight is back ? Did anyone try this ? What do you mean exactly by rubber band? If you mean when you move the stick a little bit, the cross hair jumps all around. Yes I did, especially pitch control! But it could be because I played too much il-2 1946 recently. It is just much easier to aim steadily in 1946.
HippyDruid Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 ...it also seems easier to spot planes despite nothing on the DD about it I was thinking the exact same thing. Prehaps having slightly better fps is making the spotting of moving targets easier or something?
SAG Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I was thinking the exact same thing. Prehaps having slightly better fps is making the spotting of moving targets easier or something? Well i dont thinks that the case, ive gotten no performace gain or loss with the new patch (with grass distance on)

I don't play with anymore since I own BoS. I mean the Bf 109 seems hanging on a rubber band. When you move the stick, even softly, the plane starts bouncing slowly up and down. It needs time before it stops.

Every plane has a large rubber band in Campaigns, there's no option to control the effect ? I find i can only slightly lesson the effect by constantly adjusting trim !!

Just don't know if it is this patch or it is because l left this sim for too long.
Dakpilot Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 It is possible that this patch (and others) can reset joystick settings, noise filter, dead zones and curves back to default, sometimes other parameters are also set back to default If you had good settings before it may be worth checking that they have not been changed Many people have found settings that will help with oversensitivity (and comparative 'input speed' of very small stick movements) this can reduce the effect, not all joysticks will work with same settings With a short throw desktop joystick you are able to move a 'sim' control surface almost instantly, and quicker than in a real A/C, until a sim models all physics/forces and input speed/strength, this is partially a game engine/hardware input limitation Cheers Dakpilot
JG300_Olrik Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) I have to check this. Thanks Dakpilot for remind me that. Thus I don't think it will change anything because I always used full direct response settings (default). It should not be changed by any patch. But ok let me see that. I think I have to fly longer my 109 to ge sure ; it may be just a feeling something has changed. Cheers Edited August 11, 2016 by F/JG300_Touch
III/JG52_Otto_-I- Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) After last update I ´ve noted in the Bf-109 F and G, that the THS (trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer) handwheel have 4 turns of travel, from full nose-down to full nose-up, (as we claim from the initial release of the game), and how it work in the real aircraft. I am a glider pilot and I use to trim every time necessary ; so do I in the sim too, especially with Messerschmitt 109. I didn't notice it has changed. I will try and report...

Having installed the update, I went to the graphics section to turn on the grass, noting in passing that landscape detail was x4 as expected. The results were very far from pleasing. I went back to the landscape detail settings - still reading X4 - and reset it to x4 again. The game requested a restart and this time the results were magnificent. LLv24_Zami Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Extended grass is too much for my 2x970 gfx cards with 3440x1440 resolution. I get stuttering. But no big deal for me, otherwise game runs very smoothly these days.
BazzaLB Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Loved the latest patch. Gameplay feels smoother. Had a blast last night just doing Quick Missions. The game has really come along since alpha days. Btw, posting this from 32000 feet via etihad wifi.
pencon Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I've got an error since the patch : #10027 packed data verification failed please restore original packed data files . Like I'm supposed to know what that means ..

Like I'm supposed to know what that means .. I think I had this happen when I tried to start game "offline" after a steam patch. I just started "online" (so game could sync some data I guess), then quit and restarted in "offline" mode and all was fine again (I think this is the error I got, but not 100% sure due to old age catching up on me).
