I can confirm that alt-tab trick works.

 

Also, if stuck on the backscreen after it crashes, remove your mointor/tv cable and  then plug it back in.

 

I have an HDMI cable, when I unplug and replug it back in everything is fine.

if your running HDMI Nvidia GPU try unplugging your HDMI when this happens and then plug it back in. if it works please report back.

 

this could be a signal issue with the game and the video card, HDMI, from NVIDIA introduced back 2 updates ago.

please report this issue to NVIDIA.

Just for the record and unfortunately, after 2.004 update, the problem still persists.  The same solution is still also working.

It seems this issue has finally gone away with the new update! No "black screen" for me anymore when exiting game. Yay!

Same here, I can exit the game properlly in Full screen mode.
