two versions of BOS/BOM

I looked on the various forums, and I googled the topic, but I am not able to see a definitive answer:

 

there are two version of these games.  One is playable through the Steam connection, one is playable as a stand-alone version local to my PC (not logged into Steam).

 

Can the key I buy from Steam allow me to run the stand-alone version, once it is activated?

 

In other words, if I buy a key from Steam, can I play the game on both the Steam version and the local, stand-alone version?  (Not simultaneously, obviously)?

Yes, you can play the game on both the Steam version and stand-alone version (not simultaneously).

You've to activate your Steam key on our website anyway (Steam version guide) then you can download stand-alone version here http://il2sturmovik.com/download/ and setup it.

 

But if you buy a key on our website you can't use Steam version.

Many thanks for your quick reply; I was holding all those sweaty pennies in my fists until I knew the answer to this, so off I go to dump them in the Steam pot and get playing!!

 

I suppose access to the direct IL-2 Sturmovik download portal becomes active once I buy the Steam key, or do I need another log-in?

 

I'll proceed on that understanding , then.
