cenkcnk Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 (edited) Hi guys, I am currently using complete ch set (fighterstick-pedal-throttle) I like to fly with both planes and helicopters. For heli flying, i heard that a joysitck without centering mechanizm provides very good results. for this i am planning to get a defender cobra and making a washer mod. (plese check the link and also pdf file) second and expensive plan, is to get a warthog set and make same mod on my ch fighterstick. (i think ch fighterstick and cobra has very smilar gimbal systems) which way do you think i should go? second queston, if i buy a warthog, will i get good results? ps: i don't like stiff and sticky sticks. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2738654&postcount=667 Edited July 29, 2016 by cenkcnk
Sokol1 Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 (edited) I dont see why use a Warthog for this heli'mod. By removing the springs in Cobra M-5 gimbal and ad washers to make friction is possible the grip retain their last position to keep the flight attitude required by heli flight. Cobra M5 is good for this because is entirely in plastic so his grip light and have good number of functions - their mode switch can triple the buttons functions. Or you can easily make this "mod" in your CH Fighterstick, as Cobra M-5 gimbal is based on CH model, so the same apply. But at same time will make then unsuitable for fly planes, so a dedicated joystick for heli is the ideal solution. On the other way Warthog grip is heavy, almost one Kilogram and off CG with "nose" heavy, what will work against the friction principles of this "mod". Edited July 29, 2016 by Sokol1
cenkcnk Posted July 29, 2016 Author Posted July 29, 2016 hi sokol1, i am not planning to mod a warthog. cheap plan: keep current fighterstick as plane flights & geting a cobra m5 and modding for helis expensive plan: getting a warthog as plane flights & modding fighterstick for helis.
Sokol1 Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 (edited) Well, in this case take a look inside Fighterstick, to see if possible/practical add the washers. This mode is reversible. IMO - Fighterstick, due his soft springs and ample angles movement - almost 30+30 degrees - is better joystick for WWII dogfight's than Warthog. Edited July 29, 2016 by Sokol1
