Do anyone know what year the Ju-52/3m g4e was introduced and it it was used long after Stalingrad as well? Just wondering if it could be used in many other theaters as well without being unhistorical. Especially since the 52 was used in many theaters :)

No idea about introductury date, but the differences between the versions were minimal to neglible (attachments for swimmers, BMW 132 T instead of A-3 engines (only difference is a quicker electrical generator), changes to the cargo bay ie. different seat configuration and loading ramp, ect).

I think all types served threwout the war until the end without much changes to them. The g4e definetly served in the med as g4e trop.

Not really a Ju-52, but the G31 was awesome as well.

Now if we get med it will be useful there as well :)

The Ju 52/3mg4e was introduced in 1936+ with Condor legion in Spanish Civil War, being an upgrade of the military bomber g3e (BMW 132 A1 660Hp) which was converted from civil aircraft, the 4ge being constructed for military use with BMW 132 A3 engines 725Hp, it was used throughout the war I guess until attrition took place, 500+ built

In 1940 the Ju 52/3m5ge was in use (BoF)  using BMW 132 T2 engines, ability to add/swap floats

1941 Ju 52/3m7ge introduced improved with autopilot and ability to have extra gun mount above cockpit T2 engines (large production volume)

*many sources claim T2 engine was 830Hp * examples

1942 Ju 52/3m8ge introduced with BMW 132 Z 850Hp engines (first production with T2 engine) roof loading hatch added and change to 13mm MG131, based on 7ge

later 12e fitted with BMW132L engines 800HP

Total production 4800- 5000+

am sure people can find better info but this seems to be generally accurate  ;)

Does anybody has a BMW-132 document with power data? I'm asking because I'm not sure weather the 660 HP are for combat or takeoff power.

Anyway, picking up misleading information from different web sites in different languages does not help any way.

From what I understand and where much of the confusion comes from is

132 A 660 Hp max

132 A 3 725 Hp max 660Hp cont

132 T2 830 Hp max  725Hp cont

with each engine/model iteration MTOW increased, final versions being around 1100kg

original Ju 52/3mce (civil) had BMW hornet A with 450Hp, MTOW 9200kg some of these were fitted with floats..so if a JU 52 needs min 1200hp for cruise, how did this one take off?

I wonder why the devs decided to create the g4e. Especially since there were many versions after it that possible were around during the battle of Stalingrad. Maybe it was the variant which appeared in Stalingrad in the greatest numbers.

However the g4e looks nice and I'm happy with it

The figures I posted are from the BMW manual for the "BMW132 A, T, Z Baureihen 3 und BMW132 E Baureihe 2". It's available at Luftfahrtarchiv Hafner, also as part of the Kompendium.

Are you still insisting that every BMW 132 engine version, A, A-3 T-2 and Z 1936 -1943 all have the same identical power output, because that it what your figures say.

Do you not see a flaw in your logic. Sometimes a bit of common sense has to be used

New versions doesn't not equal moer horsepower. The T only had a different electrical generator (like it or not - that's what the manuals says).

Anyway, thx JtD for the specs. Would be nice if we could return to the topic and let everyone believe what he likes.

Devs picked up an old 52 model to keep things balanced on the front for the Russians.

Master troll hehe

It seems that ju52 post are quite popular given the fact that it is supposed to be a "niche" plane.

I really hope that a lot of people will fly it if the dev make a reward system for doing transport missions!

The 52 will be a very interesting experiment for the developers, this much is sure.

If it is incorporated into a new "Battle of X" DLC, then everyone will have it and the experiment won't work, but if it is offered as a premium only plane, or as the first stand alone aircraft in this series, then it would be a way to gauge the true popularity of flyable non combat types.

My guess is that once you factor out the people posting in the threads about it, almost no one else will actually buy it, if it's offered on it's own.

Time will tell.

I think many people would buy just to support the game.  I have yet to fly the La-5 but I still have her.  Just for supporting the game I enjoy.

Just a wild idea: How about an unloadable crate cargo for that Ju52 that replenishes a player tanks fuel and ammo? that would be wild, having to support player driven tanks by landing on roads!

Dr. Zebra that is awesome...how about where the plane lands there becomes a spawn point for tanks...even in enemy territory.

Wiki say this

he Junkers Ju 52 (nicknamed Tante Ju ("Aunt Ju") and Iron Annie) is a German trimotor transport aircraft manufactured from 1931 to 1952. It saw both civilian and military service during the 1930s and 1940s. In a civilian role, it flew with over twelve air carriers including Swissair and Deutsche Luft Hansa as an airliner and freight hauler. In a military role, it flew with the Luftwaffe as a troop and cargo transport and briefly as a medium bomber. The Ju 52 continued in postwar service with military and civilian air fleets well into the 1980s.

How about landing the Ju-52 in the tanks?

How about parachuting tanks from the Ju52? Or a transformer Ju52 that lands behind enemy lines and then turns into a tank....

Yes! But we need a Me-323 Gigant for that.

I´m still hoping for a way to bug a tank into a Ju and take off.. with an aditional air defense.. but that probably needs some good ramp research.

A giant would be cool, though..

Everyone's entitled to guesses.

Mine (for what it's worth) is that many players play the game for reasons other than to rack up kills on DF servers. I also guess that many of these simply love WWII era aeroplanes and will /would buy the '52 because of an enthusiasm for an iconic plane modelled and simmed beautifully, quite apart from what it might offer in terms of increased gameplay flexibility or expansion of ME possibilities.

That would be awesome. It could also work for remote artillery and flak units

It was a flyable mod in '46 as I recall.

Slow and vulnerable are the best things you can say about it from a pilot's standpoint.

From an attacker's standpoint it was an easy 600 points.

Not if I was the gunner! very good platform for shooting down several figthers!

Having your team mate drive their tank into the Gigant, then flying them over the lines to the enemy airfield to be captured would certainly be a laugh.

It would certainly also be a laugh when that thing hits a tree 2 kilometers after the runway because it couldn't really take of with a tank on board because it could only carry 12 tons
