=BLW=Pablo Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 hello everyone, I pretty much just flying German planes, but I think the Mig participated in that battle. anyone know more about? there any plans for him to get in the game?
Finkeren Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Has been discussed in a couple of threads. Basically there is no evidence, that the MiG was in service with the VVS in the South during the later part of 1942. At the time, most MiG-3s had been relegated to service in the PVO. 3
=38=Tatarenko Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 The biggest missing plane is the Yak-7B, which was the most common aircraft in Stalingrad, or so I've been told.
=LD=Hethwill Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 While the Mig3 was not anymore in production, given its engine was diverted to the IL2 manufacture, there were actually some units still using them during the second half of 1942, at least until they got shot or became un-serviceable. Often units would have a mix of models. PVO received a ton of them, while the 4th Air army still got a couple squad running them, 16 GIAP being one of them, flying alongside Yak-1's. Couldn't refer to any units running Mig-3's in the AO of BoS timeframe. Even the PVO had them replaced for lend lease Hurricanes and Hawks. Yak-7 and 7B version were indeed used extensively and deserve indeed to be available. Note: Many reports from the LW pilots show that it was really hard to distinguish models, Yaks could be Laggs, La-5's were often reported and P-40's, etc. Also every german figher plane was a Messer or a Fokker, which makes for a hell of a confusion. 2
1./JG42Nephris Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 (edited) Also every german figher plane was a Messer or a Fokker I am sure it is just a typo, but I like to be a real smartass on sunday afternoons, sorry. Fokker was founded in 1911 or 1912. Produced well known WW1 planes. Moved to Holland to keep producing planes between the wars. Didnt play the biggest role as company in WW2. Focke Wulf, 2 engineers , actually 3,founded in 1924. Produced the well known Focke Wulf 190, beside a lot more vartiants and types. Fokker common exp. Focke (Focke Wulf) common exp.190 Edited November 24, 2013 by 1./JG42Nephris
Brano Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 That was how russian/soviet reffered to Focke Wulf. They simply called it foker.Same like germans called most of redstar things flying in the air ''rata'' 1

=LD=Hethwill Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Wasn't a typo at all. That's what most soviet aviators called the FW-190. Fokkers.
Zoring Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Funnily enough my father was watching me flying the LaGG whilst he was slightly drunk and came to the conclusion that the LaGG looked quite like the P40, so that bit of information will please him.
