My perfect planeset for TAW campaign Stalingrad 1942

Some good ideas guys,

but i would approach things from a different angle.

Blue Side

Player starts with 3 F2's and 5 E7's.

He then has to complete 5 missions to be resupplied with 1 of the better fighters G2, F4, A3.

If this is then shot down he has to complete another 5 to be resupplied.

Red Side

Start with 5 I16, 3 LaGG, 3 P40,

Complete 5 missions to be resupplied with either MiG 3, Yak 1 or La 5.

This is just for fighters, but a similar thing could be applied to bombers.

So you have to start with the weaker aircraft, this would encourage people to 'look after' the better fighter once they had earned it. (as you only get one of each).

You could also alter the number of initial aircraft to mirror what was historically available.

ie 2 I16, 6 LaGG, 4 P40

But keep up the good work, love the server.

To determine whether the following post I made held any water I did a little research.

3. Balance the bomber numbers to fighters, at least to some extent. What I mean by this. If there are 5 types of fighters each at 2 available that is 10 aircraft ready to go for a fighter pilot. If you fly mostly bombers and there are only 2 types of bombers with 2 each available that is only 4 aircraft for a pilot. Flying time is longer for bombing as well, i.e., slower aircraft, getting to altitude, avoiding direct routes, etc. So trying to earn the Combat Missions necessary to replenish your losses takes longer. Someone else mentioned that flight times over a certain period, say 50 minutes, in bombers (Pe-2s, Ju-88, He-111 only) might get a Combat Mission bump.

(This suggestion is also represented in the plane set I posted here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/24083-my-perfect-planeset-taw-campaign-stalingrad-1942/?p=373013 )

I did find interesting info.  I made the following summary from data I found on the Luftwaffe First Line Units for September 24, 1942 specifically for the Battle of Stalingrad.  I excluded aircraft types not present in the game so these numbers only include aircraft types available in BOS/BOM.

Bombers.....1,692  49.6%  (He-111, Ju-88, Ju-87)

Fighter........1,719  50.4%  (Bf-109, FW-190, Me-110)

Total............3,411 100%

Numbers for December 31, 1942 are also available and the split is 45.4%/54.6% bomber/fighter for the Luftwaffe, so roughly about the same.

The point that I am making is that that the total available bomber numbers should be about equal to the total available fighter numbers.  If, for example, one side has 4 fighter type available X 2 slots each, then the bombers need to have about 8 also, available between the various types.  This would be historically proportional.  I understand some types are unlimited in TAW but these are mainly ground attack aircraft.  My suggestion also contains that a fighter type be designated as unlimited which would offset this.

The table I used is at the bottom of this link::  /ww2-weapons.com/Armies/Germany/Luftwaffe/1942.htm

Unfortunately I have searched to no avail for similar VVS numbers for this period and location. Maybe someone could assist.

Thought I would pass on what I have found.  Keep up the good work!

Cheers!

Schuck, your idea is good and logical, but now plz explain all those who have only BoS that they are not allowed to play.

Read 1st post. Basic planes MUST be from BoS. Many of the players have only this game.

For example we have 1941 campaign in plans when the basic planes will be I16 and Emil but we cant launch it. Majority still have only BoS. We need to wait.

Thx Stick. We have some data but each extra puzzle is welcome :).

Yes Blakhart, i see your point mate.

But the Germans don't really have a really poor performing BoS fighter plane.

Unless they have to start off with 5 flights in a 190's to earn one 109F4 or G2?

I cant think of any other way of doing it.

So Blue side

Start with 5 190 (BoS only people), 3 F2's and 5 E7's ?

PS either that or make sure everyone buys BoM!  ;)

I guess more or less a problem will arise : not all BoS players own the 190.

Even if I really like the idea because I enjoy the 190 much more than any other plane  :) (E7 and ju87 coming both in second place)

One question Blakhart, how will be this new point system working (if it does) ? Will we be able to "buy" plane and upgrades as we want or is it still automatic like now ?

I'm afraid not now. I wouldnt like to talk about it and share the details until it will be done and working well in practice.
