Damn... this thing was hard to find.

I was looking for this book everywhere for about three years.

I contacted every store that had one, the publisher, and even was in contact with the author for a few months trying to locate one, with no luck.

I just gave up..... Then, two weeks ago, looking at some stuff on Ebay, I decided to start looking again and to my surprise, I found a used one, in perfect condition, on the Italian Ebay.  :o:

I couldn't beleive my eyes.  I jumped on it, like a crack addict, jumps on his fix.

I just got it two days ago and I'm so happy to finally have it.

Just under 300 pages of great info on the IAR-80 and IAR-81, with lots of info about the development, production and service record of this fighters, with tons of high quality pictures, and color profiles.

My French is really rusty, but I still understand enough to make it a very interesting read.

If by a miracle, you run into one of this rare books, grab it! You won't regret. :salute:

Nice find! When was this first published?

It was published first in 2008 and they made so few of them, that about three months after release, they were all GONE!!!  smiley6.gif

One interesting thing i just read in it is about the version powered by DB-605. I read about it, but thought it was just some paper plane, or something not worth talking about, but it looks like the IAR-81C with serial number 326 had a DB-605 engine (same one from BF109-G6) installed and the prototype was tested extensively for two months. The ministry decided to convert the production to DB-605 powered version, but the Germans refused to give them engines.

Now remember, because of the weak performance of the IAR engine, the Romanians just got the licence to assemble the BF-109 G4 and G6. That's where the engine came from. Why on earth, didn't the Germans just sell them the engines to install in the IAR, instead of having to convert the factory to BF109 production.?
