Hey guys i just bought a GTX 1070 Gaming X and was wondering what monitor should i buy to go with it!

i currently use a 32 inch 720p (i knoooww... Cringe) with a 8ms response time and was wondering what i should get..

maybe a 1440p with 1 ms response time or would a 1080p 1ms resolution would be good enough (i would like to save myself some money maybe)

but what do you guys think?

Resolution, IMO.

Some people say going to 1440 from 1080 was a life changing experience while others say they think going with 144hz makes way more sense.  The increased resolution is nice but if you like to put yourself in the middle of the action all the time the Hz may be more important.  Not everyone responds the same way to these variables.  I would lean towards the 1440 in whatever Hz you can bring yourself to spring for, tho.

I've got a 27" ROG Swift PG278Q 1440p driven by a Strix 1080 OC and the lowest framerates I've ever seen are 70, ever so briefly, from the driver's seat of a Panzer (makes no sense to me).  In flight I'm seeing 125 on up.

Higher resolution especially in flight sims is always a good thing

This would matter if you're playing Counter Strike, IL-2, not so much. I agree with Sharpe, go high resolution.

... And we need to fly together again. Been a while.

Going to a 27" 1440p 144Hz (Dell S2716DG) from the 32" 720p TV I used to use was life changing.

Moving away from a TV is ALWAYS a good thing for gaming!!!    Especially a 720.   (wow, dude)

Just to drop another opinion  ;)

I used to run a fairly high end 40' 1080P TV, (which generally I was quite happy with) when I had the budget to upgrade my first thought was for a larger size screen and secondly higher resolution running at or as close to 60fps as i could get

I fully understand the advantages of 144hz but for immersion my personal preference was larger screen real estate at best res I could get with acceptable response time

Having now used a 50" for quite a while (actually 49) I would have a very hard time to go back to a 27 inch screen notwithstanding better response time and or high Hz

Just a thought from a different perspective  :)

Modern TV's have come a long way since 32" 720P was mainstream and prices can be very similar to that of a smaller 'dedicated' monitor

For distant contact spotting the best is bigger screen with low res, ideal would be 21:9 curved 34-35 inch 2560x1080, they also have very low input lag and 144Hz refresh rates. Some have G-sync too.

27" ROG Swift PG278Q 1440p . Best monitor owned, don't regret buying it one bit.

It has or had bad press...

What I noticed first was how good the color is for BOS winter maps without tweaking.

I recently switched from the pg278q to the pg279q. The ips panel on the 279 makes a huge difference. The colors and contrast levels are way better. Makes spotting in BOS easier too, I think. Well worth the extra $ over the 278.
