IL-2 Sturmovick Ciffs of Dover

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone :),

Here is the original, (meaning no TF 5.0 Yet :)), IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover.

I purchased this epic sim a long time ago now. Back then, the PC I used at that time was capable of running/playing the game, but not to it's full potential. Starting with a fresh install, I recently played with as many aircraft I could :) Total aircraft in a single sortie = 128  And.. it ran pretty good!

Here's a video montage, you cant see all of them, but their there :salute:

Got to love it!

With CoD and TF 4.312 I can make coop missions for our group in a scale that simply cannot be recreated in BoS&M.

It really was ahead of it's time. Team Fusion are doing an excellent job, looking very forward to Version 5.0 as well.

Had absolutely no regrets purchasing this. May the dream live on, and the IL-2 series. S!

Yes Clod can manage much more AI bombers at same time, but there is also a limit - I and my squad members experienced massive slow down when there was 50 + bombers and the same time during one mission on ACG campagin.

Well 5.0 is coming, but interest for WW2 cos is declining and the few new ones cannot fill up the slots that old ones left. TF 5.0 will revitalize COD I think, but flying in a Luftwaffe squad the changes will not affect me much. I am very happy for the Wellington and Beufighter . I hope this brings more flyers in

The ability of handling large groups of objects is not limited only to planes, but also to objects in general.

It is possible to recreate alive battlefields in a way it is not with other sims and this is even more impressive if we consider that it is not needed to activate/deactivate continuosly units to spare processor cicles.

Yes, they certainly deserve more attention.

The BF-109E7, F2, and F4 in TF5 won't change anything?

There will be an increase in players for sure...everyone is going nuts over this patch in the ATAG forum. :)

I have CLoD TF 4.312 and played it.  The graphics are fantastic.

The FM not so much.

For example, the roll-yaw coupling is absolutely wrong. I have found myself giving top rudder in a turn in both directions, too!   :(

The airplanes feel mushy and do not represent flight well.  The buffet zone is scripted without any effect on wing behavior.  The ground handling is an absolute caricature of tail dragger physics too.

The cockpits are fantastic though.  I love the interface and being able to manage the systems.  The scenery and that are almost enough until the nuances of the FM kick in, ruining the immersion.

I like it a lot, only play offline AI its terrible tough, still wish flight model was as realistic as the engine managment is, that would be awesome.

DM I prefer it to BOS.

At the bottom line I play it more than BOS (no sttuters, love the graphics , planes and Battle of Britain is my favorite WWII battle).

Really I have that part reverse, I never flew as much on the rudder then BoS, it like a pedal boat. Can it be hardware related?

That is the point.  You are on the rudders a lot but not at the correct times you would be in a real aircraft.  In other words, you very busy doing the wrong thing in the FM when it comes to the rudders, LOL.

Yes in BoS not in CloD

I am talking about CLoD has the roll-yaw coupling wrong and the rudder inputs are screwed up.

Yes I agree in CloD it is deficient  but workable, In BoS it seam amplified and extremely unstable on some machines and still searching for a fix.

Guys, I know its been a very normal conversation but...please do not start comparing BoS and CloD. From my experience, sooner or later it will blow up somehow.

The damage model is beautiful in CLoD.

Can it be hardware related?

Good question.  I am airplane guy not a computer guy so it very well could be....

I would have to look at the math in the code to tell you if it was airplane related.

S!

Will install Cliffs of Dover when TF 5.0 is out. Finally got a rig suitable for playing except pedals on "to do" list :D

Yup, something got downloaded. Wonder if TF mod broke?! Time to test :D

Well that was a mess :( It broke absolutely everything and I can't get CoD to start at all now. Not the standard or the TF version.

What's up with the ATAG website?

I can't access it and this message is displayed:

Their website and the forum works fine for me.

Just getting this "The domain theairtacticalassaultgroup.com is no longer parked by GoDaddy."

ATAG up and running fine.

Apparently the update [Edited] everything. If it did for you just re-install the patches...works fine again.

Hello...

I have just purchased "Cliffs of Dover" and find the flight model on my machine as smooth as the original IL-II Sturmovik ("Forgotten Battles) and "Rise of Flight".  This is something I have not been able to emulate with "Battle of Stalingrad" no matter what settings I use so I have given up on that game.

I have successfully installed all of the "Team Fusion" updates.

My question is how to I select German aircraft for the various mission types?  I use the "Custom" options but in practically all cases the planes keep on coming up as British or German bombers if I select the ME-109.

Thank you...

I guess you are talking about offline? I do not recognise your problem or do not understand it. I recommend you to use this ATAG Site  or Storm of war or the official 1C

For question directly to TF Atag is the best site

Yes, I was talking about the "Quick" and "Single" missions.  The game allows to select different planes in these cases but when you to "Fly" the player plane is always of a British variant.

I am looking at the links you provided.  Thank you....

You have to click on the pilot. The selected pilot is bright, while the enemy pilot is kind of grayed out.

P.S. And if you are talking "free flight" and not combat missions, then  you can see from the flag which country you are flying for. British, if flying over England, German / Italian over France.

I do this and I am now able to change the plane to an ME109 but it has the British insignia.

I believe I am getti8ng the hang of the interface.  If only a single pilot is showing in a single player mission, the country of that pilot will determine your side.  If two pilots are shown, one for Britain and the other for Italy\Germany than I may select the pilot of the side I want to fly for.

Is this correct?

Thank you...

Exactly.

So for the "Free flight" quick missions you can't change sides. For combat missions you can pick your pilot / side.

I have been very disappointed with the "Battle of Stalingrad (BOS)" game from 1c\777.  On my machine, which is a quad-core I7, this game has always exhibited very poor graphic poor performance, no matter the settings I have tried; even the lowest settings available.  It could be my graphics board, which is old but still, every other game I have works quite nicely, including COF.

I am a big "Rise of Flight (ROF)" fan but that community is starting to literally die out since the developers will no longer support the game.  In fact, if you look at the server stats of ROF and BOS compared to COF, you will find that COF is far and away much more popular with the sim-pilots.  I was amazed when I looked at the COF server stats this afternoon.

CloD "Quick Missions" is not like IL-2:46 or IL-2 BoS Quick Missions Generator.

Is just fixed missions wheres you can change time of day, limited clouds and planes - but not sides.

Is not possible change anything more, like fuel or weapons loadout, fuel quantity (1).

Is another "rushed" feature for that "rushed" release...

(1) In true is possible change loadout and fuel in Plane options before select some Quick Mission, but is awkward, require a determined sequence of steeps that work only in one way, and sometimes work in missions, sometimes not. In resume: headache.

Better do some mission in FMB, at least is easy to use for basic things - but "advanced" require C++ script knowledge.

It's CloD! - Play like is... or uninstall and forget.

My i5 with a good graphics card runs bos silky smooth. An I7 would have zero affect on my fps. I could probably run windows server in the background though :P

Anyway - pits in this game are the best I ever seen. Rest of the game not so much, but it will be interesting to see how the DCS spit, bok and clod spit compare.
