=EXPEND=Capt_Yorkshire Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Hi can someone please lend me some advice on this, i'm really struggling to get the 88 back to base on 1 engine , what do you guys do? any tips or links would be welcome, Thx.
1CGS Gavrick Posted July 15, 2016 1CGS Posted July 15, 2016 Single-engine flight:- immediately drop all bombs,- If possible, do not reduce speed under V=250km/h, descend, if necessary - altitude cannot be held by loosing airspeed,- On the running engine - set 1.25ATA / 2400 RPM (climb mode),- Feather propeller of the damaged engine, and close cowl flaps of the damaged engine.- Chek flaps and gears- they are should be retracted.Single-engine landing:- Flaring of from single-engine landing is impossible, if gears and flaps are lowered,- Flaps set to 25 (take-off position), set flap to 50 (landing position) only if land has been started from too high altitude. 2
curiousGamblerr Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 I haven't done it in a while, but I have made it home in an 88 and 110 a few times. In either, this is what I do as fast as possible upon losing an engine: Feather the dead engine Close cowls/rads/whatever on the dead engine Open cowls/rads/whatever full on the good engine Increase power as high as sustainably possible on the good engine to maintain airspeed Trim as needed (I don't remember specific settings here, depends on the plane and other damage) For landing, you can't use full flaps and such like normal or you will slow down too much, and possibly flip over. Come in faster than usual and take advantage of the full length of the runway. Another thing, don't turn into your dead engine. Only turn to the side of the good engine if you can help it. 1
=EXPEND=Capt_Yorkshire Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 Thanks for the quick reply guys , i'll be practicing this tonight
=EXPEND=Capt_Yorkshire Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 Success!!! i landed the ju88 real nice so thank you, but i feel i have a problem with selecting engines and getting them to do want i want, say i select an engine (engine 2 for example) and want to lower the rpms or the cowlling of that engine, and what happens is.... it does both engines ( but not every time) so its becoming a bit of a faff any ideas what i'm doing wrong? something daft no doubt.
GrendelsDad Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Capt. are you using the toggle engine select command or pushing the 1 key for first and 2 key for second engine. I use the ladder when one engine dies.
=EXPEND=Capt_Yorkshire Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 i'm pressing 1 key for first and 2 key for second, i thought that was the only way
GrendelsDad Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 I think its zero key by default but I cannot double check at the moment? 1
SOLIDKREATE Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Do what the Dev said. I have had numerous single engine rides home. The added benefit to turning off the second motor is that you will leave a 'trail of breadcrumbs' for enemy fighters to come and kill you. 1
Yogiflight Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Hi Captain, I think your problem might be, that you choose engine 1 by pressing key 1 and when you now want to go to engine 2 you first have to press key 1 again to unselect engine 1 and then you can press key 2 to select engine 2.
=EXPEND=Capt_Yorkshire Posted July 16, 2016 Author Posted July 16, 2016 Your right yogi its me being a spaz on the keyboard . Thx all problem solved.
