HI Kappone,

Really the best thing you could do, is take some time and learn the  TARGET software. You don't have to learn the scripting, just the TARGET GUI in advanced mode is very powerful, and you can create some really good profiles for your flight sims with it. It may seem overwhelming upon first glance, but it is not as complex as it first appears.

What I did was I had the TARGET manual open, and the software running - and read through the manual  - a few times, whilst working with the software and trying things it discussed as I was reading. Before too long it really started clicking with me, and I then created my first profile with it successfully.

Alternatively, some folks prefer not using the TARGET software and just use the Warthog as windows controllers, and assign their buttons from within the flight sim. That is fine too and probably easier in the short term. However there is more flexibility using TARGET as you can utilize more commands per button and have more options available to you.

I hope this helps, and best of luck - you got a fantastic new HOTAS!

Yes yes I do have the intention to use TARGET , and I'm not askin a profile "ready to use", only some tips from people who has some experience with this hotas. For example, I'm thinking to use right throttle for throttle, left for propeller pitch, coolie switch to zoom in/out, don't know is assign flaps to the flap button or somewhere else...

Another thing, I'd like to personalize the writes printed in the base ( good for tha A10 but not for any WWII fighter...), any suggestion?

Oh yes, I've just started measuring the base and ... you seved me from this job! Thanks!

I can tell you how I have some of the basics set up for mine - for Cliffs of Dover, and I am sure I will use basically the same for BOS.

My left throttle is mixture, my right throttle is throttle.

My grey slider is radiator

I put my prop rpm on the slew button with a modifier - I use my paddle switch as a modifier in my Target profile. I have prop decrease to slew button push, and prop increase to paddle+slew button push.

I stuck with my flaps button for flaps, and set it to toggle.

Pretty much just assign the commands you use most, to the buttons you feel to make most sense and be most convenient for you. I try to keep them at least as consistent as I can from one flight sim to another.

One nice thing about doing a Target Profile - you can print a layout of your throttle and stick showing the commands you have assigned to what buttons, convenient for quick reference whilst learning it.

Have fun!

I made something a while back as I think the same what you think...the Base is perfect for the A10,but for other Sims it just doesn't fit. Propably it's what you are looking for. I've posted it on the RoF forums http://riseofflight.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=350&t=39254 you could give it a try.

Thats cool!

PSD-version anyone?

Ok thanks a lot !!!

I have some doubts about assigning some commands :

the supercharger lever , the water radiator lever and the oil radiator lever ,have only 2 positions or also intermediate positions? ( I mean, may assign them a two position switch ? )

Ehrrr.. I'm a newbe for the hotas warthog, for Il2 BOS and also  for the LAGG3 ... so I know I may ask some stupid question ...I beg your pardon. Thank you for your assistance!

There are no stupid questions!

In Cliffs, I have the water radiator assigned to my grey slider axis on the throttle - the one that has INCR at the top, and DECR at the bottom of it.

Now keep in mind, I have this setup this way for Cliffs of Dover - have not been able to try out BOS yet. The water radiator in Cliffs does have intermediate positions, so having it on that slider I can adjust it to whatever percentage I want. Again, I am not aware how this works in BOS.

You might also check in the control settings and see if there is an increase and decrease radiator setting with key commands, you could then assign those hopefully to buttons, or use Target to assign the key commands to a couple of buttons.

Oil radiator, I do not have assigned to anything. I mainly fly for the RAF in Cliffs, and I think those planes have an automatic oil radiator... not sure how though it works in BOS.

My supercharger, or boost cut out  as it is called in Cliffs, I have assigned to the red pinky button on the left throttle.

I wish I had of been able to download the sim and check out the controller options so I could help more...

I still recommend you take some time, especially while you can not fly BOS, to read and study up on using Target. With it you could pretty much set anything up how you want.

Hope this helps and good luck,

Eh  I also have not been able to try out BOS yet  , so I don' t know if theese are two position commands or not . Until next trial time I'll study TARGET and make some trials on masking the base of the joy ...

Thanks!

Hi,

I just bought the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog joystick. I intent  to use it also for my IL2 FB. Until now I did not use the TARGET software but the "Plug&Play" version from Microsoft. With that cofiguration I have troubles to use the throttle. Could somebody tell me how to configurate the throttle with the throttle device from my HOTAS? All other functions are running.

Thanks a lot

Regards

Markus
