Help needed

Hi there,

 

I recently bought IL-2 Sturmovik.So firstly when I try to install the game,the option to install it at a selected location on the hard drive is not provided,and the game appears to installs somewhere on the drive,although I dont know where,and thus I cant uninstall it properly.Having installed the game,and having attemped to create a full campaign mission,I then try to save the newly created campaign, but since I have to have the disc in the drive(it doesnt appear to install properly),otherwise it doent initiate,the only option provided is to save the campaign on the disk drive,and obvioulsy it thus wont save it to that location.The map doesnt load,and the campaign thus cant be played.Why the problems,and any suggestions would be great?

Is this IL2 Battle of Stalingrad? I've never had a disc for this game, and installation for me was straightforward. Is it the steam version perhaps? Or is it IL2 1946?

 

Also you may find more help in a different area of the forum (this is, in theory, the mission building forum. We may not know much about general installation issues).

Do you think that my question is best suited to the General Discussion section of this forum,failing which which forum would you recommend where the chaps are technically minded regarding practical installations are concerned?
 
I'm running windows 7 and I bought the 'physical' retail version of IL2 Sturmovik(the stand alone version,and by that I mean i'm not refering to Sturmovik Stalingrad or Sturmovik 1946,or any other version).Surely the installation for all of them are the same?
