Tailwheel thales... and why il2 BoS has it's physics so close to the real thing...

Add to it the excellent wind effects as they're modeled in il-2, and we're up for excellent virtual training :-)

That last landing is basically taken straight out of BOS/BOM! I really enjoy the ground physics in this sim, something i really feel that no other title even comes close to replicating. Nice post!

BoS/BoM have it I have seen this many times. Just fly Expert!

First video is a light planes same as the WWI planes are so this planes doesn't count much because it is to light. WW2 are more heavy and some even more with bombs and other loadout. Even then you can see and feel the wind physics affects the plane!

Second video is what I see almost everytime. The ground wheel physics is there!

Those poor wings. That must have cracked a couple of ribs and those ailerons are destroyed. That's at least a week of work  getting that straightened out again.

It does mention ground handling of Bf109E/G which matches quite closely some of the in game traits I notice, lack of rudder authority and reluctance to turn on ground, heavy tail, and need for power and forward stick to initiate turn

However although not a 'serious' discussion/interview, it does give an impression that without more regulations accidents will continue in the 'Warbird' Flying world/community

I may seem harsh, but this is in reference to the owners undocumented taxiing/damage of engine and the Pilot's amount of time on type before testing/flying full aerobatic routines

I am all for keeping Historic aircraft flying, but with the amount of accidents seen recently there will be none left in a few years, without more thorough checks on operations of what are now very Vintage aircraft   ;)

but I guess these can be ''anecdotes'' for a better more fun story.... :)

Cheers Dakpilot

Just because you can afford it doesn't mean you know how to use it.

Just reference most BMW drivers for verification of this.

That was said already nobody listened or said a word when I posted it..

I put it up with references hell even the title of the magazine and what page it was on.

None of that is duplicated in the game.

'' The 109 needs a lot of power to get moving,so you need to allow the engine to warm up a little before you pile on the power.Throttle up to 1,800rpm and

suddenly, you're rolling;power back.To turn while taxiing, push the stick forward against the instument panel to lighten the tail, add some throttle and jab the

brake(do this in a Spitfire and you're on your nose!).The 109 ,however is very tail-heavy and is reluctant to turn;you can very easily lock up a wheel.

If you do not use the above technique, you will charge off across the airfield in a straight line!''

''Power up and keep it coming smoothly up to 40 inches.Keep the tail down initially, and keep it straight by feel rather than any positive technique.

Tail is coming up now,and the rudder is becoming effective.I'm subconsciously correcting the rudder all the time.It is incredibly entertaining to watch the 109 lift

off the ground;the rudder literally flashing around!''

''The fighter is now bucking along, accelerating rapidly. As the tail lifts, there is a positive tendancy to swing leftThis can easily be checked; however,

if you are really aggressive in lifting the tail, the left swing tendency is difficult to stop and happens very quickly. It's a wild rough ride on grass, and

with all the noise and smoke from the stacks,it is very exciting''

Here is the post that no one commented on and no wonder the 109 is not the same in game compared to what living pilots today say the plane handles

the guys are flying them telling us in real time in living breathing words how the plane is.

There is also some footage of a Pe-2 landing and it looks exactly like we have here. I can't find the exact time but it was surely shown in this video. The thing comes in for what looks like a normal touchdown and bounces, sways left and right and struggles to stay on its legs before settling down. This sim has really come close to reality :)

There are things I really prefer in a simulator game.. like halfwinged taildraggers.

I once saw a Yak dogfight with half a wing in mp.

Watched it again- you're right!

Watch min 6:40 - 6:50. this could have been my last Pe2 landing.

I love the ground handling in this sim, too
