71st_AH_Hooves Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 So i have been able to fly pretty much the entire mission inverted and the engine still runs no problem. I thought that the engine would cut out at high positive g's and inverted flight. Am i wrong or is it just not modeled yet?
Sternjaeger Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I'm not sure about the Klimov engine, but pressure carburetors were installed on the Allison and Merlin engine to prevent negative G cutouts. The issue would be the oil in the crankcase going the wrong way and causing engine seizure on the long run, so yes, that's probably still something they're working on.

Finkeren Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) Yep, I'm fairly sure preasure carbuerators were pretty much standard by 1941 for engines that didn't have direct fuel injection. The I-16 would propably not be able to fly inverted. Edited November 22, 2013 by Finkeren
